The Wheels Mfg setup works well.

That's right, SMG. Ordered one already. Hope it fixes the creaking.

Hadn't heard of Wheels Mfg, but had already ordered the Praxis. Hopefully it'll do the trick. Fuji apparently spec it on the Transonic.

I've heard good things about it (many of which on this forum). Let us know how the install goes and if it fixes your issue.

It's fitted. Will take it out for a spin tomorrow and hopefully hear nothing...

Looking at some weight savings now. It's 8.35kg with two bottle cages, pedals and Garmin mount. It'd be nice to get it under 8kg. Any quick options? The seatpost is heavy alloy. Maybe a carbon post?

So how did it go? Might order a Praxis BB this weekend.

It looks like you have the Specialized alloy BB30 adapters which are very good. They just have to be greased before installing them. I have used those on many BB30 bikes including the Allez Smartweld. Easy Peasy

No clicks whatsoever so far. Hopefully that remains the case.

Hey,

had the same "clicking - problems" with my Allez E5 and Shimano Ultegra crankset. Even the Praxisworks BB did not solve the problem, only a new crankset helped...

Just put a set of Aivee hubs on Pacenti SL23 with CX Ray spokes on. Dropped 200g to 8.2kg. And hopefully is a tad stiffer to boot.

Keen to make it 7.99kg. Just because.

Weighed the saddle and post:

Saddle: 248g
Seatpost: 309g
Clamp: 20g

Should be some low-hanging fruit there. If the specs are accurate, this would give me 160g alone:

Anyone used one? Supposed to be decent quality, no?

Hylix seatpost - 150g? - v low price /g.
Selle italia slr saddles - 115g (carbon rail) to 160g (ti rails) they are pretty decent n good value for the price - provided the shape is suitable for you.

Couple of little updates...

I've put a custom top cap on, lost a little more steerer and popped a Chinese carbon seat post in.

Weight is now 8.15kg with bottle cages, Garmin mount and Vector pedals.

Contemplating whether or not there's any more low-hanging fruit in terms of weight savings.

Carbon bottle cages. Carbon spacers. Lightweight saddle.

Second hand carbon crankset is a good cheap fix.

One thing I was thinking of was going tubeless, as I have Pacenti SL23 rims. But I'm really liking these graphene tyres I have on at the moment and they're not compatible.

What sort of weight saving would I see by going tubeless?

I already have carbon spacers. But a saddle is also on the cards - an SLR would save around 100g. But I'd like to try one first.

Not keen on messing with the groupset yet - it's all just so slick and functional and cheap to replace when needed.

Getting under 8kg isn't a big target for most on here but this is a low-budget Ultegra build. Eventually I'll probably put Dura Ace on.
