Giant Propel 2014 - a weightweenie's worst nightmare

I had it repainted to match the green/black/white jersey of my cycling club.




Build list:

Repainted Propel Advanced frame = 1018 grams, my guess is the original paint is quite heavy.
Repainted Propel fork: 421 grams
Repainted Propel seatpost: 260 grams. Room for improvement!
Repainted OD2 stem: 152 grams. Ouch.
Giant SLR handlebar: 235 grams
Fizik Aliante saddle: 252 grams. Comfy though!
SRAM Force shift/brake levers
SRAM Red rear derailleur
SRAM Red drive side crank arm, Stages Rival non-drive crank arm
Campagnolo Record front derailleur
Giant SpeedControl brakes, plenty strong
Jagwire Elite Link shift cables, Shimano brake cables
Schwalbe One 25mm tires
Far Sports 38x23 mm wheelset, 1400 grams including rim tape
Control Tech Ti skewers
Totally matching BBB green handlebar tape
Totally non-matching white bottle cages, bought on Aliexpress.

Haven't weighed everything, will weigh the complete bike once the steerer is cut.

I'm not personally a fan of the green saddle / tape, but the bike looks badass

Yeah I would agree the green saddle is alittle loud. Green cables would look awesome though

Yeah, one day I'll get to a white saddle/white bartape combo, for now I wanted something with a bit more "pop"

Not fan of green, but the proportions of colour1 vs colour2 is great!

How do you like the bike so far? I'm kind of going back and forth between this and the TCR (leaning toward the TCR). I love this frame, though.

Only ridden it once (cyclocross season ended last weekend), compared to the Chinarello's I had before this feels a bit stiffer in the bottom bracket area. Braking is fine (Shimano blue pads), better than the KCNC's I had on my previous bike.

As far as aero is concerned: it did feel 'fast' but that's so subjective I'm not gonna go there. I'll take it to Tenerife in February, not the bike of choice for most when it comes to climbing but I can't wait to see how it climbs (and descends!). Just for laughs I'll be using a set of Mavic R-Sys wheels there

The resemblance is remarkable That Envie is hot! A bit dull for a girl's bike, aren't they supposed to be decorated with hearts and flowers and teddybears?

what is the reason of mixing shimano pad, campy front mach and sram gear?
altho it should be compatible, but this is the true nightmare for me.

anyway, the color is catchy, did put some effort

Shimano pads: wanted to see how they would perform, I was impressed by the Reynolds pads (compared to standard cork) but a friend recommended these.

Campy front mech: lighter than a Force mech. For most WW's this is explanation enough To keep it in line with the rest of the group I've removed the logo's. I live in the Netherlands so if I shift my front mech three times per ride, tops.

I know you said the campy record front derailleur is lighter and shifting the front obviously isn't a priority given how rarely you need to shift in the Netherlands, but how is the shifting for the times u need it? Specifically small to big ring?
