I can well imagine that the 3-4 layers of paint add quite a bit of weight, and thus making the 900g estimated not accurate.

Yes.... but the bike was previously white, which is historically one of the heaviest colors because they have to do MANY layers to get the color truly white.

Heavier (18g) than the tune bottle cages, but nicer.

Those cages are nice, but IMO, they suck. One of my buddies has them on his Colnago and he's always losing bottles.

I couldn't disagree anymore, I find them perfect, I've never had an issue. I think it depends on what bottles you have, the lightweight branded bottles work fine. !!

Does any one know if the front derailleur mount for the tarmac sl3 is removable? Contemplating a change to 1x.....

Had a change of set up as I am planning for a longer distance triathlon next year. Picked up some vision bars and brake lever, as well as sram bar end shifters. And adamo prologue saddle. Damn! The saddle is heavy.

Image

Image
Vision brake levers - not the lightest (3t aero brake lever @ 60g a pair) but got it at a good price.

Image
Vision trimax team base bar and clip on bars

These replaced the zipp contour sl carbon bar @ 190g.

Still playing around with the saddle fore aft and height.

Weight as pictured - 7.4kg.

Oh yes, need a longer chain.

Decided to diy a Garmin tt mount as I can't see the Garmin screen when it's on my stem.

Bought a small pvc tube from the local hardware shop and sanded it to fit the space between the alu extensions. I didn't have a drill to poke holes on the pcv tube, so I went to the stove, heated up my screwdriver and poked 4 small holes on the pvc tube.

Garmin mount - 4g
Pcv tube - 16g. I read somewhere that others have managed to get the total weight to 10g in total so I must have a heavier pvc tube..

Cost:
Garmin mount - own
Pvc tube - 10 cents
Sandpaper - 50 cents
Time - 5 mins of sanding to fit nicely, 2 mins to poke the screwdriver thru.

I removed the one from my Crux, should be riveted and epoxied on just like mine. The paint will look like crap/be non-existent under it.

Px brakes, pictured without brake pads. Not quite ciamillo or ax lightness weight, but a comfortable 60g savings over my red silver brakes.

Tks. I have since discarded the idea of going 1x on this frame.

Thank you brahl.

Some further mods
1. Deda 80mm to kalloy 60mm (because the reach of the vision basebar is... quite long. Having pain on my shoulder on longer rides.
2. Ultegra 11-25 to Red 11-28

Weight on my bathroom scale with training wheels shimano rs21 7.4kg.
With fulcrum 50s tubular 7.0kg

Will further work on my position and comfort before I decide if I wanna invest in a tri bike, or get a lighter set of basebar / clip ons.

I still have the Px brakes (-60g) and red rear derailleur (-44g) in my parts bin, but it's not a priority right now. Might leave them for another build if I find the time. For low hanging fruits in lightening the bike further, there's still the ti skewers and 100g seat post, but I'm kinda enjoying the slow mod process and not in a rush to reach the weight goal yet.

Ps the deda stem is surprisingly light, given its budget price.
