Since I will be forced to race a gorgeous and heavy giant Propel next year I've decided to put my current road bike under the knife. Just looking to tinker around hopefully get down near 6kg with clinchers. Definitely busting out the sandpaper and maybe even the dremel but not the $$$'s.

Original build list:

After some quick swapping for parts I had in the basement:

Next Steps:

P2m-> Exogram compact -250g
CT Viento -> Carbon bar -100g
Zefal veloplast tape -> +30g

Getting to work with the 400 grit and razor blades since no bike deserves to be this ugly. Removing the graphics is the first priority but I should be able to lose 50g without the paint job.

Ordered:
3T Rotundo LTD 190g - $140
Carbon Ebay Saddle 100g - $20

As above, agreed 100%, I like the paintwork. Strip it and it will be like all the other soulless looking generic bikes. Leave it as is.

It's certainly too late for that. I'll be leaving the large FUJI logo on the down tube. I've might paint that logo bright green and natural carbon everywhere else, that might give it some "soul".

Paint Removal process is slow and steady. I had to swap the UNO7 out for my favorite Deda Pista stem, 16g weight penalty be damned. I still need to get my hands on a used compact exogram, expecting to be around 6.35kg at that point. I'm also considering some lighter brakes, unfortunately the Planet X cnc brakes are no longer being sold, no idea why.
