Happy you missed it. It is sitting in my garage with a new THM crank on it. Need to finish the build.

David

@ David, I think now you HAVE TO post a picture of your MUD with THM crank ! :)

Disc brakes though. Write off 500g.

Got it built, no bar tape yet though. Gonna dial in the positions first before I tape it up.

Seem like the tire size may ultimately be limited by the Ultegra front derailleur...

Very nice build! Bet that frame rides very nice with the larger tires.

I went for a short shake down ride yesterday afternoon. It was a nice ride. Nice handling. Nice stiffness. Feels livelier than the Domane. Definitely not as smooth in the rear compare to the Domane 6.2 though, but I wasn't expecting the MUD to be smoother than the Domane.

All the waiting and anticipation gave me some unrealistic expectation. I'm not even sure what the expectations were, they were just there. At the end of the day, it is just a road bike with big tires. Hope I get some gravel ride time in before it gets too cold around here. It is unseasonably warm this December.

I do look forward to the extra cash I'll have on hand when I sell my Domane's, and buy some SRAM eTap goodness for this MUD. Definitely think MUD > Domane :)

Plus, it LOOKS great !

7.24 kg
15 lb 15 oz

No pedal.
No bottle cages and bolts.
No speed sensors.
No bar tape yet. So add another ~100g to the build to count as complete.

@ amey, I was gonna tell you to go fornicate with yourself, but I did this instead...

Better? Shaved a chuck of weight too :)
I was gonna replicate the cockpit and fit of the Domane as much as possible, but aesthetic and weight is more important here!
That Sella Italia saddle was the result of a bike fit this past summer. It isn't bad but I still think there's room for improvement. Let's see how these Specialized Romin Experts will work out for me.

I really don't mind the red spokes though. What I really need to do is to get rid of that silver brake track and get some carbon hoops!

Looks much better, but have to agree with amey, the red spokes is a bit too much red. Some nice handbuild wide aluminum wheels would be nice and suit it a lot.

Agree. Right now my plan is to build a set of Pacenti SL23. What do you guys think? Any alternatives? These are about the widest rim brake road rims I'm aware of.

I think some of the chinese carbon clinchers get wider (externally at least anyway), but I'm guessing they wouldn't suit this build?

Pacenti SL23 rims would fit the bill for a mix of road/gravel.
I write the weightweenies blog, hope you like it :)

Disclosure: I'm sponsored by Velocite, but I do give my honest opinion about them (I'm endorsed to race their bikes, not say nice things about them)

I'm super exited about my new CK R45 to DT Swiss R460 - Best alu wheels i've ever ridden, and i've been through a couple.

Haha.. So this is where all the eBay R3 MUD's have gone. I was eyeing out for those MUD's as well. Unfortunately the budget wouldn't allow for a bike.. I could do with a 800USD R3 MUD now though :D
