2014 Cervelo R3 Ultegra

Current weight: 7.26kg/16.01lbs

Frame: 2014 Cervelo R3 Ultegra 54cm (with internal routing)
Seatpost: FSA SL-K
Stem: 90mm -6 degree Williams Legion ACS
Bar: 3T Ergonova LTD 42cm
Bartape: Fizik Superlight Soft touch
Bottle cages: Planet Bike carbon
Saddle: Fizik Antares
Brifters, brakes, rd, fd and chain: 6800 Ultegra
Crankset: 34/50 6800 Ultegra
Cassette: 28-11 6800 Ultegra
Cables: DA9000 polymer cables
Power meter: Stages Shimano 5700
Rims: Lightbicycle RRU55C02 55mm - deep/25mm wide carbon
Hubs: White Industries T11 black
Spokes: 24+20 Sapim CXRay black
Nipples: Sapim Polyax 14mm blue
Tape: BBB rim strips
Skewers: J&L Ti skewers
Innertubes: Continental Race Light
Tyres: Continental GP4000 SII 25mm+23mm
Pedals: Speedplay Zero Ti
Garmin mount: Barfly 2.0
Brake pads: Reynolds Cryo Blue

I have a carbon no padding saddle to try out as well as a Williams Ionic CCS (185g) seatpost yet to install. By my calculations I have about another 150g to save with those, though I am pleased with the current weight. Please forgive my steer tube length, I am getting my fit dialed in and I only want to have to cut it once. Measure twice, cut once ;) I traded in the stock crankset for the Ultegra one in order to use my Stages power meter. The black 5700 and the dark grey 6800 match well enough that no one has noticed without me telling them that they are different.

I love how the bike handles and feels. The big low pressure tyres and the compliance in the frame make for a very comfortable ride. I love direct feeling I get the moment I start to pedal. This bike just wants to go and it brings a smile to my face every time I get to ride it.

Super clean (even if you did take the shots at the wrong end of the cassette and chainset ;) ).

What do the wheels weigh? I actually expected this to be closer to 7kg.

D'oh! I knew I was forgetting something with the setup. Today was my R3's day off, I commute on my Jake.

The wheels weigh 1551g with rim tape. I didn't go for the lightest hub set as I have a tendency to put deep gouges in aluminum hub bodies so I went for the ti hub body and the general reliability of the T11 hubs.

I got it down to 7.115kg using an ebay seatpost and carbon no padding saddle.

I'm happy with the weight I've got it down to. It's a well spec'ed bike, light, feels fast, handles great, comfortable and looks fantastic. Everything I've wanted in a bike. So why am I constantly thinking about how to get it lighter? When does it stop? I think bikorexia is real.

Once I back away from the silly ideas I think the long term plans for upgrades are to build a set of super lightweight climbing wheels and wait for SRAM etap Force to come out.

The store recommended the Wheels Manufacturing BBUNIV-SHIM. No problems yet...

I am betting you are a Canon user...

i think, weight is overrated, even, if you are climbing a lot. 500 gr more or less, nice gimick, but not really relevant.

I agree! However I keep returning to thinking about upgrades. I really need to focus on the engine and not the machine now.

Love the wheels. I've been considering a set just like that. Do you have any close up pics of them? Did you weigh the rims?

No close up pics, I will try to remember to do that soon. The rims weigh 489g and 477g.
