Thanks a lot, I'd be keen to see some real life (not eBay) close ups of the Hylix.

Haha. Ok.
Ordered new seatpost and saddle yesterday, Hylix Carbon setback post and generic 3k weave carbon saddle. Should drop a decent amount of weight with those two for not a lot of money. Just got the long wait for them to arrive now!

Seatpost arrived today. Quite happy with the quality overall, a decent finish given the cost. It also came in at 7g under the claimed weight of 180g for 27.2 x 400mm
Image
The stock Cannondale C2 in 300mm was 222g (that's how it came with the bike, I've not cut it down)
Image
I was able to cut a decent chunk off the end of the Hylix so ended up with a pretty decent saving for less than £40!!
Image
Will post a new pic of the bike once the saddle arrives.
New weight is approximately 7.8kg with pedals, cages, Cateye mount and sensors.

Saddle arrived a few minutes ago. Matte 3k weave generic carbon from eBay. The quality is far better than I expected for the price!
Image
Only 2g over the sellers claimed weight of 95g.

So a nice 140g saving over the Fizik Arione cx that it replaces

Please excuse the hole in the wall, burying the cabling after installing new tv.

What do you plan to lace those DT 350's to? Because you know those Askiums have to go asap...

Too true!! They look dog ugly in it. They will be getting laced to 3k matte clinchers. Haven't decided between 38mm or 50mm yet though.

Looks great. Those Supersix are the perfect platform for a custom build. Looking forward for your next posting!

Had the first proper ride since I changed the seatpost and saddle. Such a transformation!! The Hylix post has a nice level of compliance and has made the ride much nicer and the carbon saddle is miles, and I mean MILES more comfortable that the Fizik it replaces! All in all, for less than £60 I'm over the moon with these alterations. The finish on both products is well above what I expected and for the price the weight savings are phenomenal.
Put a decent amount of miles on the Spidering now too and again I'm very pleased. Shifting is quick, precise and noise free, and of course, it looks great.
I had been planning to replace the Ultegra kit on the bike with Dura Ace as soon as the new wheels are done but after another ride with flawless performance, I'm tempted to leave the Ultegra until it's worn out.
