What a train wreck of a thread.
Utter crap.ultimobici wrote:emcardle wrote:Valbrona wrote:Riding a single or fixed gear is pretty universally recognized as great training for technique and power done correctly.
Not if you value your knees...
Been riding fixed for best part of 2 decades with no knee issues at all.
Look up fixie knee damage and come back to me.

Nice I like the clean lines and simplicity. Never tried a fixie or Ti frame so that would be the perfect bike to borrow for a few days.

Poor position, improperly adjusted cleats and poor choice of gearing are the problems. Using a fixed gear with a front brake is not an issue at all.
The utter crap statement stands.

Only if you are using the front brake 100% of the time to slow down, otherwise you get knee problems.

maybe you did. I have yet to meet a single sufferer. After 23 years in the cycle industry you'd think I'd have encountered it by now. But I haven't. Funny that.emcardle wrote:ultimobici wrote:Poor position, improperly adjusted cleats and poor choice of gearing are the problems. Using a fixed gear with a front brake is not an issue at all.

I agree - train wreck thread. Locking this - if you would like to discuss pros and cons of SS, take it to the training forum. Thanks.
