Head mechanic Chris knows his way around older kit as well as the boutique modern items and Glen kindly allows my projects to stay at Trak 'in residence' until completed and use of the workshop for custom projects. Between us we are solving the challenges.

I don't think Glen actually needs anymore bikes, lol. Their a great bunch of guys especially letting you use their facilities. I spent a small fortune on a new bike from them a few weeks ago but to afraid to post it on here, to many haters. Lol. I'm down there on Saturday, will take a look at your bike if ok.

Feel free - it is in the workshop with interim wheels whilst the tubs are glued. No spoilers though!

Bit of fine tuning going on whilst I wait for a final custom made component - hopefully only a matter of a week or two away.

Did some research and discovered that the old Deda Shallow 215 bar is same bend as the current Deda Speciale 26 I had fitted but almost 100g lighter - bit of polishing and ready to be fitted. This is the lightest bar I have found with a traditional bend that I can use with the single bolt clamp Ti quill stem (too sharp for carbon). Polishing to mirror finish is always very rewarding

Bottle cage has arrived - it was either going to be polished ss or black - in the end decided to match the wheels

Image

Ashima braided reaction cablesets thanks to FWB - the braided housing will suit the retro build and they are nice and light without resorting to segmented cable housings which wont give the smooth cable bends I need

Cables fitted - the reaction braided housing looks fantastic. I wanted to find a way to clean up the clutter of traditional downtube cable stops - in the end I removed the adjuster barrels and drilled the stops out to accept the housing end ferrules directly. Much neater and saved 8g in the process - bonus! . Got an email regarding my last part - it is being fabricated in Pennsylvania and shipped in the next couple of days - could only find one person able to do it.

I guess it takes less than two weeks to ship some part from Pennsylvania to Adelaide, right?

2 weeks exactly as it turns out – arrived today– two polished titanium seatposts made by Albert Bold of Bold Precision. The Kalloy seatpost was not very elegant and letting down the overall build.

Image

I approached several boutique titanium bike/component makers about a polished Ti seatpost to match the stem and Albert was the only one able to make the 26.2mm dia post size the old Cinelli frames use.

In the end I got 2 as this wont be the last Cinelli I buy. T he rear one is with Albert’s standard clamp (very neat) and the other one he nicely agreed to make using an Enve clamp which suits the narrow saddles I sometimes use even though it is a fraction heavier.

Albert was exceptionally helpful and has a real can-do attitude. This saves around 70g off the aluminium post.

Wow. That's amazing, I really like the retro modern aesthetic. Definitely want to do a project like this at some point.
