Lightest bikes under $4000 in Australia

OK, a tough one for you weight weenies. In your hallowed opinions, what would the lightest road bike under $4k be in Australia (so this is for those weenies in Oz obviously). Most bikes I've found thus far (Trek, Avanti, Cannondale etc) are all around the high 7's - 8kg. Surely there must be something comfy, stiff and fast under 4k that also isn't a oil tanker??

Least expensive light frameset I know of downunder is BH Ultralight - frameset around $3500 AUD - so you not going to be getting into very light territory with your budget if you build piece by piece. I would look closely at a Merida off the peg - seems to offer same value for money as Giant always has but generally at a lighter weight. Having a quick look on the website the model that should just squeeze under your budget is the Scultura 7000-E - Ultegra Di2 + Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels. At a guess still will be over 7kg.

Many places have 2014 Cannondale SuperSix Evo SRAM Red on special under 4g now. Just on 6.8kg out of the box (no pedals). That'd be hard to beat.

Plenty of room for upgrades in bar/stem/post/wheels to go mid 6s with pedals.

A second for the BH, a friend has one and it looks pretty nice. You can pick up the 2014 models pretty cheap and 2015 is $3999 rrp with ultegra.

Pushys also had BH Ultralight 2014 models on cleareance last time I checked. My XXS 2014 bare frame weight is 785g and fork uncut 296g. Note that's for the Ultralight and not Ultralight RC.

BH for me too. I saw on bikeexchange that they have frames at heavily reduced prices now. A mate has an 2014 model with sram red and enve's (not a cheap wheel option) and its around 6.4kg......as light as youll get for around $4k
