I suppose I shouldn't tease too much since this is a run-of-the-mill Ti frame (relatively speaking). Some more pictures as the build gets under way:

I think we all do!! There is something so beautiful about the simplicity of a ti frame. Very nearly bought a ti mtb frame a while back but bought my Bianchi frame instead

Although today's carbon wonder frames can provide the same ride qualities as a Ti frame (e.g. my Parlee Z5 SLi), the carbon frames are just not as special.

If you're a fan of Ti, then I'd highly recommend getting one. For the stiffness freaks, the Moots RSL is supposed to be up there, as well as the Archon. For me, my Siena was the perfect balance. I didn't have a high end carbon frame prior to getting the Siena, but after a few years, I let it get to me that since I was racing, I should be on a carbon wonder frame. I test rode a few bikes, and the Specialized S-Works was the starkest difference in feel, but it was like a track day car, something that I didn't want to live with as an everyday ride. The Parlee was just right, while being stiffer when getting out of the saddle to go, maybe even a touch more compliant. But again, it didn't feel special to me.

I'm hoping the Xicon will ride similar to my Siena. The Siena had butted tubing and a lot of worked tubes, while the Xicon is simpler. The rear stays are a lot beefier on the Xicon though. Welds don't seem as tidy as they were on the Siena (2007).

Got a few new parts and took off some old ones from the Parlee:

The TRP's were lighter than I thought (probably 207-210g without pads - they work very well, so I'll probably keep them as long as they don't clash)

The engineering on this thing is amazing. They went as far as milling material off the Torx screw heads. It's really amazing in person.

Got this Tune clamp for a steal on eBay:

Picked up an old gen Edge 1.0 fork with minimal logos (may still sand it down):

Maiden voyage on the Xicon. Was limited to a flat 20 miles due to my ITB issue, but initial impression is that it's very stable and the handling is very responsive.

I'll get a better picture up when I get some time:

I'm impressed. great looking machine. I esp like how that seat collar matches the frame.
