Hi,

this is my second bike presented here, a mtb this time.

This is a custom build, done by me in feb. 2014.

The original build parts for the bike, the way it is in the picture above, are :

This bike was used as racing bike, so I tried to make no compromises in terms of reliability.

At the midle of the year, I made a few upgrades:

- new custom build wheels (hubs tune king and cong, spokes sapim cx-ray, rim ryde trace xc) 1340 gr/set
- changed the brake rotors for Ashima Neon (165 gr / both, instead of 262 gr Shimano Rt86)

These upgrades got the bike to a round 9.4 kg (weight with fresh sealant in tyres and with fork serviced).

Is waiting for an EP steerer, to get this on:

and some other cool stuff.

The plan is to take it close to 8.5 kg. Will see what happens.

Will look sweet with the Lefty!

We don't see that many Stevens down here in Aus; what is the ride like?

Hi,

yes, they aren't that many also here, to be honest, that's one of the reasons I choose Stevens, after I informed myself about the brand of course.

Before mine, I only saw one at one of the local profesional riders, wich was sponsored by the brand importer.

The second reason was the price, I got mine with a 70% discount (lucky black Friday :) ) and I decided that worth it.

The ride... well I'm just an amator rider, but I can tell that this frame can climb pretty fast, if you have the legs of course.
Also the steering is fast and sharp, took me couple weeks to get used to it. That's beaucause of the pure race geometry.
A bit dificult when going down on very technical trails, but I'm working on impruving my skils.

I love it, that's why I ordered a custom steerer for the lefty, in order to keep exactly the same geometry.

Hi,

thanks for appreciation,
I didn't have time to post the updates, so here it is.

Tired to wait for the EP steerer, I ordered an aluminium one, custom build by a friend. I needed to build the bike in order to test several components, and also to be able to train for the new competition season.

So here it is :
Image

weight 291 grams, but not important at all, I only need it temporarily.

The conical spacer has the role to maintain the same geometry for the bike, as it was with the SID fork.

How the bike looks with lefty (please ignore the rear lamp, also the wheels are the ones used only for training, a little bit heavier):

In the meanwhile I got the EP steerer and I have to be honest, even if was very frustrated waiting for it,
worth the wait.

It looks much better than I expected.

Also I got a pair of rotor chainrings:

90 grams for the pair, they look just superb,
and a kcnc titan cassette.

So with these I'm almost ready to build the bike (final version), I'm waiting only for the Berk combo (saddle and seatpost) wich will arrive in about 3 weeks.

Can't wait to find the weight (should be around 8.6 kg)

Usually i am not related to mtbs, but this one looks great.
I know stevens road frame "slc" (now "comet") from 2011, an affordable high-end-product, very light and nice-, clean traditional look.
So i suppose sonora-frame was a good choice.
Dont forget to post pics and weights of berk-combo!
