Hello boys and girls,

I'm new on this forum, and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Sydney, Australia, I recently finished my first bicycle build. Now I know this site is called weight weenies, and my bike isn't quite in that category, but thought I'd share anyhow.

Frame/Fork/Seat post: Dogma F8 (custom painted yellow), 51.5
Stem: Deda 80, aluminium
Handlebar: Deda 400, aluminium
Groupset: Shimano 105, 50/34, 11-28 11 speed
Saddle: Fizik Arione Kium
Wheels: Campagnolo Scirocco 35
Tyres: Vittoria Rubino Pro 25
Inner tube: Continental Race
Handlebar tape: Deda perforated (though I have a set of yellow fizik ones ready)
Computer: Garmin 510 Edge
Power Metre: 4iiii Precision (due early Feb 2015)

Total weight: 8.4kg (I know, I know, but I went for value and performance over extreme weight savings, particularly how much lighter my bank account might feel)

Some other information about myself:
Gender: Male
Height: 175
Weight: 67.5
Age: 27

As you can see from the measurements, everything is very compact on this build. I can get into a fairly low aero position because of the drop, but can also sit up comfortably on the handlebars. Another thing some might notice, the screws that hold the seat post in place are not the original ones. They were 3mm hex that sat flush with the frame, but decided to round themselves out after installation, basically to make my life difficult. I finally managed to remove them with some improvised methods, and discarded them for conventional 4mm and 5mm hex screws (mixed it up just for fun), so that future maintenance isn't such a pain.

I've attached pictures below. Any constructive criticism is welcome. If anyone around Sydney sees me, say hi.

Why such low spec parts on such a high end frame? Is the frame a Chinese copy?

Yeah it is, though it's hard to fault it. That's half the reason I got the whole thing painted yellow instead of having decals, I just wanted a decent frame for a good price.

If I could justify spending 6k on a bicycle frame (especially to the missus), then yes, I wouldn't have skimped on the components.

Considering they're all made in the Far East, I wouldn't be surprised if these manufacturers managed to get hold of some original moulds.

I get you, and that's why I didn't get any branding on the frame. Don't want to embarass them or myself having their logo on a "sub par" frame. (Yes, I know it's their design an all, but all aero bikes are basically the same shape now).

Like I said, I just wanted a decent frame for a good price. Fair enough?

Having the money is not the problem. Spending a fair amount of it on a bicycle is. Paying off a mortgage in Sydney is taxing enough as it is. Ordered all my other components from wiggle because the local bicycle shops here are just unreasonable.

I don't mind someone buying Chinese frame and I might consider it one day for my commute bike. They know how to make a frame. But I will not buy the replica because it's hurting people who have the real model... And I just want to get real.

 I have to say that I was initially shock by the bright solid color, but I started to like it more after a while.
I do joint to sentiment about not buying Chinese, but I do understand why you are buying it. I myself have a real Colnago but I would not mind one of this for the rainy days.
Could you tell me where did you buy it from, including the web site and the specific vendor?
Thanks
Oscar

Not really a big fan of the colour.

Yeah, I've got a white bike (with red trimming) that I use as my daily commute, and a black bike previous to that. I didn't want to do anything conservative again, so I got this painted yellow.

When I went for my first ride, I got what's called "toe overlap" (had to google it). First time, I'm guessing because it's a smaller frame than I've previously used. Is that a common occurance here, and if so how do you manage it, short of changing wheel size/crank arm length?

Thanks. Weight wasn't my biggest concern, so I went with what I thought looked best. Of course different people have different taste/requirements, but this suited my needs.
