I can't think ok anyone I know who fits a 54cm bike that runs 170mm cranks.

You find it more efficient? I'm curious about your move to it, so probably should have been more explicit with my comment.

I was running a 170 crank on my 54 cm bike recently, it felt fine. I can't say I noticed a difference between the two, but it was hard to make an accurate comparison as one crank was standard and the other a compact.

On my previous bikes I ran 172.5. When I was purchasing my SLR01 my LBS fitter put me on the Retul Muve system. This allowed us to decide the size of every component including crank length. During the fit we tried 170 due to the current move in triathlon (see below) to smaller cranks. I liked it and purchased a 170 which I have been on it since Feb '13. I figured I would do it again.

I run 170mm cranks on all my bikes. I ride a 54cm, and I have long legs. I found I can spin a higher cadence better with the 170's. I've tried 172.5, and 175 as well. For me they work better, and help me to spin instead of hammer. I don't think I will ever switch back to larger cranks.

As for the OP's S5. Looks good. Aero and light is always a good combination. Keep up the good work.

All in all I think it is going to be a win from the aero and weight perspective. You can't beat a 75 gram weight reduction and taking an inch or so of metal out of the wind.

Excellent jorisee. I like them; they are clean, aero, light, and easy to install.
