hello everyone,
I'm excited about building a new road bike for this season, I crashed on a race in belgium at the summer and broke my tarmac sl4 frame :
Image

I orderd all the parts I need for building a new bike and I will update this thread when I will get them :soon:

Is that frame the one that your building or was that one totaled in the crash? If so are you replacing it with another SL4 or the SL5 or something totally new?

Look forward to the progress in any event!

Love the heart also but it would look better with some shimano inside ;)

this is my broken frame :(
The sl4 was the best bike I rode on and it was awsome! stiff and light.
after I ruined it, I had to try the new model so I will build an 2015 tarmac frameset :D

I had 4 bikes equiped with shimano in the past but I wanted to try something diffrent.
sram force weight less than shimano's groups (even the dura ace 9000), I have some friends that ride it and recomend it and I like the idea of the double tap shifters. If I wouldn't like it I can always replace it with ultegra

the sram force front deraileur doesn't work well.
I'm replacing it with a good old dura ace 7800 der (weight 72 gram) (also saving 16 gram  ):
Image

and to finish the build I bought an 3t aeronova handlebar. it will help me set up my position and will decrese the bike weight in 100 gram:
Image

I installed the der and the stem on the bike but I didn't install the handlebar becouse the internall housing takes a lot of time to install, I will do it on sunday and will post good pics of the bike :-)

what do you guys think about the bike?

Fine bike.

It deserves a better crankset though.

thank you, I dont think I will change the crankset in the near future, I already spent a lot of money on this bike. maybe if I get a good deal on fsa slk\sram red bb30 crankset, I will take it. it could save about 150-200g :beerchug:

yesterday I went to the LBS and they installed the bar on my bike. I went for a short ride around the parking lot to check it out and it flexed a lot and made creacking sounds. I did a short willy and when I landed there was breaking sound and the bar cracked in the middle section. very disappointing, it was installed using a torque wrench and there was no reason for it to break beside poor engineering and poor quality. I'm going back to aluminium bars and I dont recommend buying this bar to anyone.

That is an awesome looking bike.

Just need to get rid of those cranks.

Pity about the bars huh.

So. One question. The weight for the frame. Is this including BB, bearings, cage bolts, RD and FD hangers and bolts?

Reason I ask is because I am looking at this same frame, actually I am going to try and pick up a Tarmac S-works 56 in the all black otherwise same paint as yours (I think the black on black may be available for the disc module frame only).

I am comparing this bike to the Wilier 2015 Zero 7 in black.

Once again. Sweet build. Would look awesome with some nice dark great Dura ace Cranks or S-works Carbon. Also some carbon rims would do it justice.

How does it ride after riding some time on it now? Interested in your thoughts on smoothness, vibration dampening, weight, balance, acceleration, corner and braking handling, climbing etc.

Cheers

Jumma

Looks great. That BB area on the frame is massive!
Which bars were a problem? The build photos look like a Bontrager X or XXX but you also mentioned the Aeronova. Lots of these bars end up on eBay after not passing QC (no fault to either brand but more of a gray market issue). Could this have been the problem?

the bars in the photo are xlc pro racebar. originally, I wanted to put the 3t aeronova ltd bars on the bike but it took some time untill they arived. I bought the xlc bars so I could ride the bike in the meantime.
after I got the 3t bars and installed them, I test rode the bike in the parking lot and popped a willy, the bars got cracked when I landed. :x very dissapointing  ...
I installed the xlc bars back on the bike and I will ride with them for now.
I got warrenty and they sent me another bar but I dont want to try carbon bars again, I'm afraid that maybe they will brake in the middle of a race.
I will upload some photos of the bar and the crack when I get home :)
