S-WORKS Tarmac Stealth Etap - 6.260gr (Updated)

Most super light frames are constructed using T1000 and T800 (Ultra High and High modulus) carbon layers. Toray 1000 is lighter and stiffer but more expensier. As frames going lighter usually gets less comfortable and pricier.
S-Works using Fact-11 referring as Ultra High Modulus Pitch Fiber with a combination of High and Intermediate Modulus in some areas and the result is a more comfortable, stiff (where is needs) with a small weight penalty. Tarmac 2015 frames are some grams heavier than previous SL4 but way more comfy. Specialized could easily build a lighter frame which could be more attractive in marketing terms but instead they choose towards ride quality. If you go for a long ride with a super light / stiff Emonda SLR (IMO another excellent frame) I don’t believe you will enjoy the same compared to a Tarmac.
You can also see the diameter of tubes and fork used for Tarmac which are impressive large. If you compare Tarmac and Emonda fork you will notice the difference.
Just to note Emonda SLR is one of my favorite bikes such as Cervelo R5 but I could not justify the price difference when I was looking for a new frame (mostly for Cervelo)

Okay guys, just wanted to add to this great post. I finally took order on my 54cm Black/ Satin S-works frame set 2 weeks ago.
Build Cockpit:
1) 100mm S-Works Stem
2) 42cm Bar
3) 155mm Toupe Saddle (carbon rail)
Group:
Mainly Dura-Ace 7900 drive train
2) 9000 Dura-Ace Crankset 172.5mm crankarm length
3) Ultegra wheelset
4) Ultegra freewheel(10 Sp)
I removed the drivetrain, from my Franco frameset and had all the new cables ready and had purchased in advance the 7900 Braze on front derailleur and Roubaix bar tape. Here are pics of the final build!!!!!
This has been the build I have been wanting to do for awhile. Although, the Sworks build was 1lb HEAVIER,than the Franco due in part to a heavier saddle and the aluminum adapters for the Dura-Ace crankset . The ride quality is sublime!!!! First off, the frame set is stiff and forgiving, due in part to the different carbon layups thru out the frame, secondly the saddle is HEAVEN. Coming from a SLR Selle Italia 135gm(great saddle), for the 30gm penalty of the Toupe, well worth it. I can't say enough of the Ceramic speed BB, talk about smooth as butter and watt savings.
The frame geometry is by far better than the Franco frameset and I notice immediately the S-works felt like a compact frame, and when I check the specs between the 2 framesets , sure enough, the S-works top tube was 12mm shorter..nice
Complete bike weight , as you see it is 15.4lbs. Franco build was 14.5lbs. I do have the Dura-Ace carbon wheelset, should be able to shave off some weight there

OP, looking to get the same bike (SRAM Red though). I've been playing around with different sizes and both the 54 and 56 are comfy for me during short test rides. I see you're 5'9" ish and I am 5'10"... would you recommend the 54 based on your experience?
I noticed reference to creaking earlier in this thread.
Well, my 2015 s-works Tarmac has began to creak when under load i.e. on climbs.
It happens out of saddle, and in saddle.
I am going to check pedals, cleats, chainrings, rear skewer, seat post etc tonight, however I am pretty sure it is coming from the crank/bearings.
Specialized replaced the original SL4 carbon sleeves with aluminium for the SL5 as this creaking was a problem due to tolerances with the Carbon sleeves.
Has anyone had this problem with their 2015 Tarmac (Dura Ace Cranks) with the specialized ceramic bearings??
Any solution, before I strip the cranks and BB down to clean and re-grease.
The bike has only doe a few thousand km, so I am surprised.
Still very happy with the bike in every respect though, creaking is annoying when you are suffering up a big climb!!
Thanks
Jumma

Thanks gmakris. I have removed the adapters and cranks and greased. I didn't remove bearings as I don't have the tool to remove and pressfit again. I have booked into local bike store mechanic and they are going to do this strip down BB grease and reassemble. Apparently it is not uncommon with new bikes as initial assembly is not greased all that well and they get dry easily. I will have to get a bearing removal and press tool eventually. I have everything else for bike mechanical repairs !!
Hope you are enjoying your Tarmac as much as I am mine.
Cheers

I removed mine quite easy just a small push from the inside (using the wooden handle of my hammer through the right hole) - installed again by hand...
also asked our specialized local distributor and they confirmed that it can be removed by hand - If you want you may try if it comes out without hard effort - otherwise you can use your new tools
Update:
After all the problem solving, strip downs and rebuilding it turns out the squeak was not the BB after all. It was the rear DA cassette. They have had problems with these before, though mine is the newer 2 rivet style 11-28 11 speed. Anyhow it is being replaced by Shimano warranty and if it does it again I will switch to Ultegra cassette or top range SRAM. Cheers

Just another update in case someone else comes across this issue with Rovals or any other wheels. It ended up being the bearings. The seals on the DTswiss hub had failed and water had gotten in and caused the problem. Anyhow. Bearings change under warranty by specialised. So all good now.
