My New (to me) Parlee Z5 SLi (Updated 9/12)

Well, I bit the bullet and am taking a plunge back into the world of carbon. Found a great deal on a 2014 Parlee Z5 SLi so I bought it and just got done unboxing. This is a mostly temporary build as shown (maybe not).

Weight is 6,050g with the Reynolds 32's.

I rode around the garage and like the TRP's, so I'll probably keep them for now. Should I keep the red or replace with black TRP's?

What an amazing build! Leave the brakes red, they are just that little bit that break it up from being very boring. And they grab that little bit of red on your Red shifters. Beautiful

I agree, the hump on the post bothers me. I'll probably get the New Ultimate UD post.

I've logged a few hundred miles on it, and I'm truly impressed with it. It retains the liveliness of my Litespeed while being stiffer in the right areas. I raced a crit last weekend (and got 3rd) with a tight 180* turn on each lap. Jumping out of the turn, the stiffness was very noticeable. However, climbing up a steep climb out of the saddle doesn't have that feeling that the Tarmac SL4 did where the BB just did not move, almost as if you were pedaling with a cement wall between your legs.

The other difference I immediately noticed was how smooth it was, especially on broken roads. Having demoed the Tarmac and a few other carbon bikes, they all transmitted a lot more road vibration than my Litespeed and rough roads just sucked. The Parlee is somehow even better than the Litespeed on rough roads. I descended a local descent that I've done dozens of times, with extremely broken, chewed up tarmac and I was able to fly through it faster than I've ever done it. The Parlee just stuck to the road. It was amazing.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with my choice to go for the Parlee. I don't feel like I'm giving anything up over the Ti frame, while getting a lot more.

how is the brakes compare to the red aero brakes or DA 9000?

I haven't used the DA9000. They seem to be better than the SRAM Red Aerolinks, but it's been half a year since I've used those.

I'll have an update soon. I put the 3T Ergonova Stealth bars on, did a little recabling and a light 25g Deda tape job. Oh, and I have a New Ultimate Evo UD post coming today!

Without the new post, I'm down to 5,944g, should be down to 5,870 or so with the new post. It's supposed to be 114g @ 350mm with no suggested insertion range (???), so I'm thinking I can safely chop 10cm off, and maybe get it to the low 100's

I'll post a pic with the 32's and new post once I get around to it.

I'm happy with my new to me parlee z5i as well.. not quite a light as yours ( enve clinchers and cockpit ) 9070 drivetrain. Just under 15lbs.. I have a few places to shave but not much unless I want to drop power meter . Sorry for the crappy angle. My red alchemy ELF front hub is a no match but it's not important enough for me to change.

Got some new parts, including a New Ultimate UD post, which came in right around expected weight at 116g, dropping 70g. I'm also rather happy with my 25g tape job.
