Last week I build myself a new toy for upcomming winterseason. It's not complete ready, there are still some parts to replace and drop some weight but it is for sure a lightweight crossbike at the moment.

It feels really quick, great handling and it's awesome for shouldering.

Updates coming weeks:
KMC Sl chain,
New wolftooth chainring
ALU jockey wheels
Sram red cassette
Alligator cableset
Cervelo expander

I allways want a really light crossbike but without compromise because it will be used in races a lot. So normal XTR pedals because of the mudclearance and none extreme lightweight parts. The weight now is 6.3kg, hope to save another 1/200grams the coming weeks.

Bottom Bracket: BB30 crappy bearings
Front Derailleur: Who need a front derailleur in cross?
Rear Derailleur: Sram red standard (will get lighter pulleys soon)

Sweet build. I'm hoping to build up a CruX soon with discs and CX1 HydroR. Whats the story with the tape?

Nice! Also keen to know about the tape as well as the tuning to the Toupe.

After riding my crux for another whole season now it was time to get the weight as low as possible. With some new components and a lot of sanding, shaving and drilling the final weight is 5.92kg! I think thats not that much for a race ready machine with will be used around three times a week.

Full Buildlist at the moment:

I'm also really interested to know the story to the bar tape wrap and the hoods!!

The bike looks great in the end. Well done with the weight too.

The story behind the bartape is pretty simple. You're handposition on a crossbike is really fixed on the hoods and not in the drops. You only need that in very steep decents or sprints. The hockey tape is very cheap an super light. The best part of all is that is made to give grip in wet conditions. So I removed the hoodcovers, cut the last 4cm of the handlebars and only wrapped some tape around the back of the hoods en top of the handlebar to get the grip I need. I always ride with long finger gloves with pads so it is quite durable and comfortable.
