My 30th birthday present to myself:

Image

De Rosa SuperKing 888 SR frameset
Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed mechanical groupset (inc. cables)
Campagnolo Bora Ultra 2 wheelset
3T ErgoNova Team handlebar 42cm
3T Arx Team stem 100mm
FSA headset with De Rosa branded top cap
Prologo One Touch bar tape
Prologo Scratch Nago saddle
Look Keo Blade 2 Carbon-Ti pedals
Continental Sprinter 22mm tubs
Elite plastic bottle cages with De Rosa branding
Lezyne carbon Road Drive pump
Garmin mounts and sensors

All the above weighs.............6.93kg

Certainly with a bit of tweaking I could lose some weight, but for now am just enjoying the ride.
Thinking of swapping to white bar tape.
Saddle will soon be swapped to a SMP Composit Carbon (for comfort, not weight)
Crankset is a 52/39 and cassette is 12/25, but these are due to be changed to a 52/36 and a 11/27 soon, as that is what I originally ordered. Supplier messed up (according to retailer) and sent the wrong ones so they are letting me ride the bike as is for now and will swap over the bits when they arrive.
Anyone else ever had issues with i-Ride UK?

That's one way to have an awesome 30th b-day. I worry that if I did the same, I'd wake up to divorce papers.

Seriously good looking bike.

Incredible! Just the right kind of 'loud'.

I think the black tape looks great though... maybe a saddle with a little less white instead...

Actually I'm now thinking of keeping the bar tape black but changing the outer cables to Campagnolo red. At the front end at least, probably rear brake too, but maybe keep rear derailleur cable black.
Extra little swoosh of colour, but don't wanna tip things over the edge

Beautiful bike! Please keep bar tape black, you are changing the saddle to carbon already otherwise I would have said get rid of the white saddle. Leave the cable housing black, less is more! You have the correct mix now and colored housing will kill the clean look IMO.

Hi Colster, that is a great looking machine....

What size is the frame?

In my opinion leave the black bar tape get a black saddle and don't put any red cables on, leave them black. I have seen them and the red just doesn't look the right kind of red. I personally think it will cheapen the quality build.... but if it is something that you have to do then try and tape them to the original cables first and take a pic and look at it for a week or so (maybe even post the pic) before doing the work as its a job changing them then changing them back!!!...

As it stands - stunning!!

Lig.

Yeah I am in kinda 2 minds about changing the cables as it could end up looking a bit tacky. The reason I consider it is the headtube has the red De Rosa heart logo (no text). Will post a pic at some point
This is the sort of thing I had on mind

Image

The Look 695 in the picture is a lot less "busy" on the frame than my De Rosa is, so maybe what appears tasteful and refined on the Look may turn garish on the De Rosa. Will prob just swap it in time and see how it looks.

But all this is new bike honeymoon talk, for now I'm just enjoying the ride!

Hey Lig - the frame is a 58cm. I see you're location is West Yorkshire, I live in Leeds so if you see the bike spin by someday then it's probably me

Hi Colster,

Yeah I'm in Ilkley - I am sure you get over this way so i will keep an eye out

As for the cables - maybe they will work - but i guess, like you say its a case of trying them out.....

Cheers,
Lig.

If it was me, I'd put on white bar tape on but definitely keep the cables black - I think the red will clash.

Great looking bike!
