Is that mitering done by hand? If so, that is highly skillful work.
Really?... By hand? I've mitered tubes by hand before but they never ended up as perfect as that. I'd be thinking he has a milling machine. Maybe he just says he does it by hand for the Rapha mystique Either way, I'll enjoy the thread. Nice.

Nope, don't work for any bike related company. Just a high end hobby. But back in the day when carbon was just getting going I toyed with the idea of building custom steel frames, and built a few. But then rode my first C40 and thought... hmmm...carbon is the way of the future (at least then), and it's tough to do carbon on a small scale without molds and high volume etc. But I really appreciate the workmanship that goes into building a fine steel or ti frame and kudos to those who still do it. But I suspect he has a milling machine to get miters that perfect. I can't imagine any frame builder these days who wouldn't have or have access to a milling machine for mitering the tubes. The fact that he might have used a milling machine in no way takes away from it being a "handbuilt" frame. The milling machine is just a tool, like a file or a hacksaw, which makes the job easier.
Love the photos by the way! Looking forward to seeing this to completion.
