Hi!

I have most likely bought this Genesis Equalibrium 2014:

And i want it to stand out a little more, and be a Oldschool/newschool mix.

- I have a set of HED Stinger 5 tubular wheels, 50mm, that i want to put on.
- Tyres would be Vittoria Corsa Evo SC with gumwall colour sides.
- The Selle Anatomico Titanico X saddle pictured does not come with the bike, i want one in natural colour
- Handlebar tape in natural leather colour (the same as saddle)

Our fellow WW user kfreytag owns my favourite bike with the tyres i want:

This is the saddle i want, the handlebar tape is the same colour:

What do you guys think? Would this be succsessfull or will the mix of colours be strange?
The silver of the group, the red and white of the frame, the tan of saddle, tyres and bartape, the black stem, handlebar and seatpost and the grey carbon wheels.

If kfreytag's bike is something you like, then what you describe will probably also be to your liking.

For me, I think the sidewalls on the Parlee are vile, and almost anything in the world would look better. Fake gumwall coupled with deep-V profile wheels = vomit.

yeah i totally love it! But then again, i'm not the most experienced rider out there. I love the concept of the rules within style, apperence and etiquette when it comes to road cycling. With DH/TRIALS i just put on some shorts and a lumberjack shirt and bomb. This is more diffucult, and people are judging you harder.
Hence asking you for opinions, and you should not be afraid to tell me i have "bad" taste BikeAnon! :D

Why are the gumwall tyres fake? Is the real deal the Cotton tyres then and these are just coloured to look cool?

Don't get me wrong... you CAN'T have "bad taste" when it comes to your own gear. Whatever YOU like is the right choice.

You can ask for suggestions, but don't let the suggestions keep you from your own style. I'd rather see more customized bikes in that world, as opposed to following the crowd. Especially me. DO NOT follow me. What do I know about style?!

The reason i'm asking is because i'm not really sure if it will look good.
I will probably proceed with my plans anyways :)
But it could be possible that i'm wrong, a brown saddle and bartape with black tyres could be really nice aswell. All black would work aswell, but then the bike would be anonymous.

I like to have a easy conversation topic when it comes to cycling. Since you are always meeting new people.
Like my missing front tooth, my oldschool looking bike or something along that lines.

The saddle and tape will look great. With any color tires. I love the saddle. It will darken, though.

It's only the gumwall and deep-v that puts me off.

cut the steerer tube
classic bend bars
53x11 for pictures
DSLR camera, for sick bokeh
match color saddle to bar tape

that's a nice looking frame btw!

Skorp - I would do a white saddle and tape with all matching black bar/stem/seatpost (Thomson?) and de-label the stingers with the gumwall Vit's and be done with it.....would be oh, so classy

That gives an understated elegance with just the right balance of brooding intensity with pesky insouciance.
Do it!

Just my opinion but I don't think deep carbon wheels go with a skinny steel frame especially one which is by no means a race bike.

Still, it's your bike to express yourself with as you wish... while avoiding ending up in the Freaks topic. :-)
