Ridley X-Fire Disc

So after my Wilier Zero7 was destroyed, I got new Ridley X-fire frameset which I ordered long time ago. Ridley had some delivery problems in 2013, but in the end I got my frameset. I wanted new training bike, because I had problem with braking during winter. So I decided to go Disc.

Build list is following:

Ridley X-Fire Disc frame + fork
Ultegra 6700 groupset with Campagnolo Centaur carbon crank 53/39
Avid BB7 brakes
Deda Zero2 stem
Deda Newton bars
Deda Superzero seatpost
Saevid S1.2 saddle
Far Sports disc wheels with Novatec hubs
Challenge Grifo tubulars
Keo pedals

I know I can be banned for this, but weight of this build was not important
I wanted solid training bike which can be used during nice summer or during nasty winter.

Good looking bike! I have the same frame for cross racing and I have really enjoyed riding it. Do you have a cross chainset also or do you use the standard off road as well?

So far, I have just something like 300 km on the bike, but I'm happy with the build.
I use the bike 99% on the road as training bike and not for CX races, so this is the reason for road 53/39 crank. And it is Centaur, because I already had it from old bike, so I used it. I did not want to buy new crank and leave this one laying in cupboard.
Shifting is fast and reliable, so I'll leave it on the bike

how practical are the grifo tubs on a training bike? how do you deal with flats in remote places? i have enough nightmares about flatting my road tubs at inopportune times that i couldn't bring myself to train on cx tubs...

still interested to know what OP does when he flats his tubs in the middle of nowhere I've never run or glued cx tubs, but from everything i read, you can't half-arse it and expect to get away with it so a flat on the trail would mean calling in the team car...

I use these tires, because it is not likely that You flat even on bad roads. Main purpose of this bike was winter training in snow and summer training after storms, when roads are covered by dirt.
But unfortunately my road bike was destroyed during the crash, so I used this bike as my main bike this year. I just wanted to recover and start to slowly ride my bike again so speed on road does not matter.
You are right, that it is not that much practical to train on tubs, but I like them and I always ride with my phone in pocket. And my wife is kind enough to pick me up with her "team car" in case of flat
But this happens just 2-3 times a year with my road bike and I never happend to me with CX bike and CX tubulars.

Now I finished my new road bike and it is time to take few more pictures of this bike.
I will do it in following days and post more photos.

Frame size is 54. I usually ride 56cm bikes, but Ridley recomends 54cm frame for my 179cm height. It is a little shorter, but also seat tube is quite long. And it would be too long and head tube would also be too tall with 56cm frame. So this is 54cm frame and I have longer (120mm) stem on this bike.

Bike weight is something like 8,5 kg according to my bathroom scale.

What pressure are you running on the Grifos? Did you just glue them, or are you running Belgian Tape?

Hi, I use maximum recomended pressure, because I use them 99% on road. So 3 bars.
But I also have two older Grifos, and these old Grifos allow You to inflate them to 5.5 bars, so I use 4 - 4,5 bars on these old Grifos.

I use standard Vittoria glue to glue all my tubulars. Road or cross.
