It will be a slow build process since Im doing it on a budget, but here it goes. Build weights will be updated as the parts come in.

My first WW build- probably wont get too crazy first go round.

From the ebay listing I was planning on refinishing it. There are a few spots on the frame and fork that the clear has been scuffed and a chip here and there. I have done a lot of automotive refinishing projects so I wasn't afraid to try my hand at a bike frame.

That said, the graphic package on this bike is stunning in person. Im going to try to do a light wet sand and buff to get the frame looking showroom fresh. The chips I will be filling with an activated clear (2k) and then wetsanding it out and buffing with the rest of the frame. It truly looks stunning in person. +1 to Giant for that.


Updating the OP with some of the parts I will be using from another bike I have and then the planned route for the rest of the pieces.

Tonight Im going to take a squat on a lightly used Fi'zi:k Ardea Saddle (231g). Color is white with blue accents and it spec'd with their fit guide for my size/flexibility. Should match well if its comfortable.

Also going to peep on a handlebar he has for sale. Bontrager Race Lite Anatomic C (245g). Its the right width, but im not sure how it will feel in the hands.

Saddle and bars were right for me and proper shape. Plus they are moderate weight.

He also had a good condition cs5600 cassette that I picked up.

I need a stem, wheels and levers now among little things like a chain, bar wrap and cables

Not a great picture, but here is the bars, saddle and cassette.

The front derailleur and seat post should be in soon.

I have ordered a cheap 100 mm 7degree stem that I calculated to be proper fit. I will order a light weight stem after I confirm the proper real life fit.

Still need the stem to come in and I need to go get a wheelset that I have been emailing about. Then Levers, cables and small things to finish it off like bottle cages and bar wrap.

I'm trying to make it all match as far as colors go. So it's not an eyesore.

The levers might be all black though. Silver Shimano levers are a hard find

maybe look into campy levers? i was in a similar predicament building up my bike and i decided to go with campag centaur brifters, with a jtek shiftmate they play perfectly with my shimano drivetrain. the campy levers are cheaper too. my levers and the shiftmate were less expensive than a set of 105 jawns, even after shipping

Good suggestion. I did look into it, but i think for mechanical that I want to keep it all simple. Adding another moving part complicates things.

I build so many car turbo systems and modify cars that I take the keep it simple motto.

Just ordered a few more small parts for the build.


KCNC Shimano crank arm bolt (105 arm didn't have one :( )
Matte 3k bottle cages (ebay)
Carbon Headset spacers (ebay)
Titanium Allen head axle (non QR)
Wellgo SPD pedals for my bikes (lightweight single sided 123g each)

Talked with the LBS and Im going to pick up a lightly used set of Mavic Ksyriums that they are willing to sell at a good price.


That leaves me with levers, chain, cables and bar wrap. CANT WAIT.
