Most people here suggest removing the saddle bag before taking the picture, but in your case I think everyone can make an exception.

I have been trying to think of ways to make this bike more of a weight weenie bike while still being practical. I know I want to start with the wheelset as it weighs 2985g, but other than that I don't know where else on the bike I should think of losing weight without spending a lot of money (wanting to keep the frameset and the e-groupset). I am shooting for the magical 6.8kg number...
My wheelset right now:
Axis 4.0 Aluminum Clinchers (1850g)
Generic Skewers (160g)
Shimano Tiagra Cassette (310g)
Specialized Tires and Tubes (665g)

Suggestions for daily training wheels that are aluminum and can handle my weight (86kg)?

Swap all of the above and you will be floored by the difference.....I would go with a wide (Kinlin XC279, HPlus Son Archetype, Pacenti) custom wheel set built 24/28 to some nice hubs.

How did the switch from 56 to 54 work out for you? What are your dimensions if I may ask?

I am still working on the fit (having a small problem with my knees hitting my handlebars for example) but I may just bite the bullet and go get a Retul bike fitting.
I am 5'10, weight 86kg and have an inseam of 34 if I remember correctly.
