HF charged us US$90 per frameset for full paint, plus a flat set-up fee of $195 for decals. We placed a multiple frameset order with them so it's possible that the paint fee would have been higher for a one frameset order.

Are you anything related to the skunkworks that was back in the honda custom import car scene from the late 90s?

I love this build, the frame is on my shortlist as a replacement for my Planet X. Could you expand on why you went for the hongfu? Did you consider anything else?

Not related, but I am a car guy.

HongFu was the only one offering this frame at the time (maybe they still are?), I didn't want the typical 66 that everyone else had. I was looking at many frames, but this was the only open mold I considered.

I have been looking at the FM069 for ages now and keep looking at the images of your bike and think it is stunning.
I'm pretty sure that it's the frame for me but wanted to ask what sort of height/inseam you are?

Thanks from a newbie.

Nice build! Stuff like this makes me want to build a HongFu too, and I definately need a cool name like that for my workspace. :-)

Solid photography too, well done!

GREAT photos!! ALL of it! Puts a really high tone to an open mold frame
I honestly thought you posted a picture of Mark for a minute, but that just says something doesn't it?

I enjoyed the little literature in the beginning (I had no idea that's how "tissue" came about)
Great stuff!

Skunkworks is no more.

I swapped all my parts over to my old Wilier frameset. Bike is about a pound heavier but works much better, and it doesn't fill up with water  I've got something new in the works, but this will be the go to bike in the mean time.

What happened with your old frame?

Nothing, I just got fed up with it. The rear end had a lot of flex at the derailleur hanger, so much so that the tightening of the QR would move the rear derailleur over an inch. This would then throw the adjustments out of whack every time you had to remove the rear wheel. I'm still not sure how, but this also messed with the front one. This alone was enough to dump the frame.

In addition to that, it would fill up with so much water after each rain ride that I would have to drop the fork or pull the BB to completely drain it.
