I was looking a new frameset and my preferences were :
- high BB and front stiffness
- custom geometry or a geometry close to my specs
- BSA bottom bracket
- comfortable
- durable !
- room for max. 28mm tires
- preferably horizontal tt (or close to horizontal)
- stable handling as I'm not a fan of nervous handling bikes which don't make you faster anyway ;-)
- good allround long-distance bike.

I finally settled for a Sarto Seta with a horizontal tt painted in BMW blue.

Component selection (for now) is as follows :
- Campagnolo SR mech. 170mm 52/36 12/29
- My own handbuilt wheels (I've been building wheels for +20years)
- 3T LTD Ergosum bars 40mm
- 3T LTD Stylus 0 27.2 seatpost
- King ti cages
- BPeople 109 saddles painted BMW blue
- Vittoria Corsa 25mm tubulars
- Look Keo2Max pedals (will be replaced by Speedplay when they are worn out)

Weights will follow :)

Ok... you must use a photo hosting site so we can see this build properly. I am very interested in Sarto so tell the story please. How did you come across them, how were they to deal with, etc. Where does the Seta sit in their lineup? I don't even know if it's steel or carbon or something else. Looking forward to the build. :beerchug:

+1 on the handphone trick haha. Looks like a large size bike with an aggressive headtube height, I'm half expecting to see a pro-level saddle-bar drop eventually!

The frame is just awesome and the build list looks very promising!
Are your hanbuilt wheels carbon tubulars? (I hope so)

Calnago, I'll check the photo hosting option. I already wondered why only 160kb files were allowed.
Seta is Sarto's top model marketed as a climbers bike (because its their lightest frame) but I see it more as their allround frame as it has very high stiffness values and a comfy rearend. It is finished in 1K :)
The whole ordering process went very smooth. The communication about the custom paint job as well with several ideas, details and drawings. I had a basic idea and send them designs I like and we started from there. The main criterium so choose for Sarto however was their technical capabilities and finish.
Weight wasn't my first priority (sorry to disappoint you guys...) so went for a horizontal tt and BSA bracket.
First I wanted to go for ISP but this would make packing it for traveling more difficult so went for a regular seatpost instead.

Look565w, an Iphone6 would have been better to show the horizontal tt

Katrehn, the geometry is as follows : 53.5mm tt (horizontal) / 52mm cc seattube / 130mm head tube (0 spacers and 6° 110mm stem) / 74° seatangle (with 0mm setback seatpost) / 72° headangle with 45mm rake /
Drop is about 12cm.

Thanks kgt. Yes the wheels will be tubulars made from T800 3k carbon.

Great choice....

Well if it doesn't work out(it will).... You can sell it to me, geometry sounds spot on and always love a level tt.

Looking forward to seeing it built up.......

Looks good. Geometry seems very sound, but when you say drop is 12cm, you must be referring to saddle to handlebar drop, right?.... And not BB drop. That's an aggressive drop number for a small frame. Looking forward to seeing it all built up.

Pretty sure Sarto make the frames for Scappa but could be wrong.

Liking it! Especially, because it has horizontal top tube.

Very cool

How long did it take them to build it once you decided on the particulars? And was there anything special about the packaging it came in?

Fluoro7, confirmation to delivery took under 3 months if I remember correctly. VERY quick in my opinion for a custom geometry + custom paint !
The frameset came in a box with Sarto on it... and a lot of packaging inside. Included are seatpost clamp, headset, fork expander + topcap, bb cable guide.
You can also ask them to paint a seatpost, stem etc...

Very nice, and Sarto seems like a good company to work with.

One thing that slightly puts me off is their new, Trek-like logo...
