Thought I'd share my latest project. Wanted an occasional CX bike for winter trail riding. However basic plan was to build a 'wet bike' to replace my commuter with something that could take wider tyres and mudguards but also to replace my mountain bike which was never used.

Being an obsessive weight weenie it morphed into something else. Wanted hydraulic discs but aiming to try and get as close to 6.8 kg as possible. The reality was that 6.8kg with clinchers was always going to be a stretch and ended up at 7.2kg.

On Stans ironcross team wheels and Bontrager CX1 tyres it comes in about 50g heavier.

I'm sure the paint job and branding might not be everyone's (anyone's!) cup of tea but I'm really pleased with it.

Build list below pictures:

I like the bike; love the paint job even more. The only thing not to my taste is the levers; must be a case of function over aesthetics.

Very well done IMO.

This is a very nice bike. Specially, I like the frame a lot!

I'm not a fan of the Sram Red levers though... Seems too big. How do they feel?

More "massive" chainrings would do a great job. Or perhaps a single ring set-up.

Thanks for the kind comments. If I am honest I haven't ridden it yet! Only picked up from LBS yesterday as needed hydraulic hoses shortening and family stuff today.

I agree with the comments on the levers; I don't think they look quite so bad 'in the flesh'. However, I am a sucker for new tech and wanted to give them a go.

As for the chain rings, as a WW can't resist the extralites - 458g for cranks and rings seals the deal!!!

very nice, so I'm guessing the paint job came via the dealer, or straight from the factory painted?

No frame was imported direct and sprayed by a local paint shop, Ooey Custom. If I am being honest, inspiration for colour way came from parlee. Logos were my own design.

Any idea of the frame weight? Looks a little like the FM059.

1120g for the frame. Cable routing is different to the Dengfu. I wanted internal for gears and external (on downtube) for rear mech.

The bike frame is the same as that recently launched by Asylum cycles (called the Meuse).

Sorry, the other big attraction for me on the frame is it has a very short head tube compared to most CX bikes. Given I am planning to commute on it, I wanted lower front end - broadly speaking, the stack height is almost the same as my Cannondale evo.

May be considered less than perfect for a true CX bike, but I like it

Great looking, but would prefer a little thicker seatpost for that, looks too slim. Great winterbike

Next on list of bits to buy! Probably going to give a bit of weight away for comfort and get a syntace p6 hi flex (in 31.6)
