Hello from Germany!

My new KLEIN build. It will be pretty straight forward. I like the combination of modern and retro.

Frame: KLEIN Quantum Pro in Sedona Red size 63
Groupset: Campagnolo Record 11s
Crank: Campagnolo Record 39/52
Cassette: Campagnolo Chorus 12-29
Chain: Campagnolo Chorus
Wheels: Campagnolo Shamal Ultra
Stem: Thomson X2 10° 100mm
Handlebar: Syntace Racelite CDR
Seatpost: Thomson Elite
Clamp: Thomson
Saddle: Selle Italia SLR XP

The bike will be my 2nd KLEIN. I also built a Quantum Race in Silvercloud with Shimano Ultegra 6700 parts und Rolf Vector Pro.
Hope you enjoy the build as much as me... More to come.

Please excuse the backround...

Looks like it's going to be a pretty special build! Great colour.

I always like seeing what other people do with large frames. Love the colour!

despite the size this looks in good balance, love the colour - a guy round our way uses his Klein in the same colour as his winter/rain bike; what a waste. Shamals look great on there, they seem to help the balance of the bike with the voids left by fewer spokes, attention is more on the frame. How long have you had the frame? where did you source if you don't mind me asking...?

Hi,

thank you very much for the positive responses! Yes, it is a large frame for a tall guy... I tried to mount cleats to my knees, but it did not work. So I came to the conclusion that I need that size.. :D

I bought the frame a month ago. I was looking for this colour scheme for nearly two years when I stumbled across one on Ebay "Kleinanzeigen" (like craigslist) 10km from where I live. The frame is in perfect shape!

The parts are also used but in near mint condition.

I am still not sure which stem I should mount. I have the Thomson with the Syntace 31,8mm carbon bar or a NOS Klein MC3 Stem and an Icon 25,4mm bar... Hmmm.

Build in progress... Slowly. I decided to go with the Thomson stem. Together with the carbon bar it saves ca. 100g.

Brake lever (the red "11" matches the frame nicely)

Always had a soft spot for Kleins. Is this one pre or post Trek production?

I wish Gary Klein would resurface in the bike industry.

His designs were years ahead of their time. Tapered steerers, press fit bearings, formed tubing etc. His bikes still look current.

This one is post-Trek, but none the worse for it. The mountain bikes were significantly dumbed down under Trek, but the road bikes retained at least some of their original features.

Lovely bike.

Looking to it from the front the paintwork is bright orange, from the back it is red.
