My wifes Cannondale Synapse carbon project
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
It's time for my wife to get a replacement for her old Scott Contessa. I found a 2013 Cannondale Synapse carbon size 48 with Shimano 105. It's on it's way and will be stripped for parts, which will go on the Contessa for winter duties. I have no idea of the weight of the frame, but expect it to be resonably light in that size. This is the build I plan.
Forged Hollowgram compact
Campagnolo Neutron Ultra (my old ones, possible my R-sys SLR)
Ultegra Di2 10 speed group (maybe my own if I go for 11 speed)
New Ultimate seatpost 99g (my own when I find a straight Enve)
Specialized Romin sadle
Speedplay light action ti
Will probably keep stem and bar for now
It will be a slow progress winter project. Will post some pictures of the progress.

Received the bike and had to see it with the R-sys.
Forged Hollowgrams are on backorder until February
Replaced the Shimano 105 brakes with my GSL's and saved her 180g. She is only 45kg so stopping power should be good enough. Thinking of finding some 7900 deraillures as the frame is not well suited to run Di2 internally.

Is the cam on the front brake in its lowest position (i.e. where it needs to be to achieve the best braking power)? The instructions are pretty explicit that the pad-to-rim distance should be adjusted to 1.5-2 mm with the various thickness washers (which I think I can see in your picture) and not with cable tension. You probably know all of this, but just in case . . .

The bike is near completion. Deraillures have been changed to Dura Ace 7900 and the crankset finally arrived. I ordered a forged but received a SL for the same price, I didn't complain
Seatpost will be a Crank Brothers Cobalt 11 and the saddle a Specialized Romin Evo Pro. Weight 7,2 kg.
Levers and cassette are still 105 but will probably also be changed to Dura Ace 7900.

It's a size 48, but the frame is also available in a size 44. I ride a size 60 to compensate

May I ask ... When Cannondale give the size of this Womens Synapse as 48, does that refer to centre of BB shell to top of seat tube? I ask this because Cannondale do not state this clearly in their geometry info. But great bike.
48 is the length of the existing plus the non-existing part of the seattube where it would intersects with the imaginary horizontal top tube. The frame is 42,5 to the overside of the top tube and 45,5 to the top of the seatpost clamp. I hope that makes sense.

Got it Anders, thanks. Your wife's '48' bike has a seat tube of 45,5 from centre of BB to the very top. I am looking for a Women's Synapse in the same size. I only need the frame. An aluminium one would do me. This frame has a great geometry for smaller riders. A 13,4 head tube is great in such a small bike.
Yes I also choose this for my wife, as the CAAD10 is too low for her position on the bike. 2013 is sold out in this size. i found this at a small shop close to Munich. Have a look at the 2014 models.

The bike has been conpleted for now. Final weight is 7,2 kg. I'm a bit surprised the weight is not lower, bit the frame might not be as light as I thought.
