This was my first road bike, bought 3 years ago now. I'm just a casual cyclist, although starting up racing would be something I would like to do. Unfortunately, I'm a lanky asian (180cms, 55kgs), so that's already a disadvantage to me. Anyway, I still enjoy a nice morning ride or a lazy sunday cruise around.

I bought it stock as a Caad9-5, upgraded shifters and deraileurs to SRAM red, threw those on another bike, sold that off and now I'm starting from scratch.

I wanted a solid build, but I also aim to break the 6.8kg barrier, all on a student budget. I bought a lot of stuff second hand, which helped lower the costs.
At this present time, I don't think I'll make the 6.8, so I'll have to find some lighter bits.
Give me your input.

Edit* Swapped the really heavy 6800 brakes for the new Ciamillo Micro brakes, est 150g per set. Should knock off a good amount of weight, closer to 6.8 now.
Should get the cannondale evo expander from the LBS hopefully too.
Also farsports carbon cages to replace the ridiculously heavy elite plastic.

Build list:
Frame and Fork: Cannondale Caad9 BB30 54cm
Headset: Stock Cane Creek?
Handlebars: 3T Ergonova Team stealth
Stem: 3T ARX Team 110mm +-6deg
Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6800
FD and RD: Shimano Ultegra 6800
Brakes: Ciamillo Micro
Crankset: Cannondale Hollowgram SISL 172.5 110BCD
Chainrings: Praxis 52/36 110BCD
Chain: Shimano DA9000
Seatpost: 3T Dorico Ltd
Saddle: Selle italia SLR Carbonio Flow
Wheelset: Farsports 38mm 23mm wide carbon clincher
Tyres and tubes: Continental GP4000s

Plus other miscellaneous bits.

I'm waiting on a backorder for the cassette, and need to wait for the brakes.
I'm also waiting on my next paycheck so I can buy the wheels, unless someone's willing to sell me a set of deep carbon hoops weighing <1200g for <$1k? :P :D

Here are some weights to keep you entertained until the build.

P.S. Ignore the FSA crank, I don't have a rubber mallet to remove it just yet. That bugger is in there tight.

Finally got all the parts required, borrowed some older wheels from my cousin until I get some new ones. Tossing up between factory tubulars or custom durable wheelset, WI T11 hubs, laser spokes and pacenti SL23 rims. Let me know what you think. Also recent bills put a halt on the ciamillo micro brakes *sad face* and now the halloween special is over and their too much to be worth it ATM.

Looks good. Like a blue cannondale for a change.

Thanks, with those boat anchor wheels its 7542g - without wheels it's 4990g. Hopefully with ~1400g wheels I'd lose ~350g, but still not breaking the sub-7kg unfortunately.

That said, I actually don't mind the weight. The drivetrain is incredibly smooth, I've never ridden anything like it before. And it's the characteristic Caad ride, firm but not harsh.

Unfortunately I'm all legs, with a tiny torso so my reach isn't very long. However being a gymnast, my flexibility is 'above average' so I quite like the fit of a 54cm frame. I'm 5'11 with a long neck and a massive inseam, though I can't quite remember the number.
