Ooooh, shiny. Please post lots of photos and weights as I'm seriously considering 6870 myself.

It's going to look really similar to halo's S5

halo wrote:Hi

Photo just after a ride, so probably not ideally set up.

Brief spec:

Cervelo s5 vwd 2013 51cm
Dura Ace 7970 grouppo 172.5/11-23/Rotor bb/Stick lipo in seatpost
Fsa os115 -17 120mm stem
Fsa K-Force 400mm carbon bar
Selle Italia SLR saddle
Zero Gravity brakes/Swiss Stop yellow pads
Zipp 303 Firecrest CC wheels/Conti 4000s 23mm tyres
Look Keo Blade Ti 16Nm pedals
Elite Patao cages

Currently 6.9 kg, which is 300g lighter than the same components on the 2011 Team s5 frame it replaces.

I prefer the black paint of the Team version as the matt white flashes on the vwd look like they will be very hard to keep clean. Only a very minor issue on a fantastic bike though.

Would like to upgrade to 9070 next year.

Love the new 6870. I actually think it looks better than the DA and the comparison I have read so far it equally as good and they made it cheaper. Nice paint job on the S5 too.

SInce the wife and kid visited in-laws during past weekend I had some time to work on the build. Since I'm still waiting for cranks, outer ring and pedals its not complete. The cut-off part of steerer and seat post was 26g and 16g (the seat post has a maximum insertion of 10cm, therefore I had to remove some).

A bit obsessed with achieving a clean cockpit and cable routing. Have used spiral wrap to gather rear brake housing and Di2 cable, not sure about the result. Any other ideas?

Shrink wrap? FWIW I think the spiral looks pretty good  I like how you got rid of the ugly rubber strap on the front junction box. Dab of epoxy?

Have thought about heat-shrink, my only concern is that if the installation have to be done "in place" I´m not entirely comfortable with that much heat close to paint. AFAIK a simple hairdryer will not activate shrink wrap.

Regarding the junction box I have used clear double-sided tape (specially for outdoor purposes).

Run the di2 cable along the stem then into the top tube?

Finally the cranks have arrived, 3 months after I ordered them. Rotor 3D30, I think the new graphics and matte finish will match the frame.

That delivery also contained pedals, Speedplay Zero Stainless

Now I´m only waiting for outer ring and some protective tape.

I'd try some black mini zip ties on the cables. Nice job so far, and I completely agree with the approach of going for aero and not busting the budget to get unnecessarily light parts.
