Recently upgraded to a 5 Series from my 3.1 which has now become my winter bike.

The changes I have made from the stock bike are -

Krysium Elite SLS Wheelset
Bontrager Paradigm Saddle
Ultegra Pedals
Bontrager XXX Carbon Stem
Bontrager Race X Lite Blade VR-C Bars
Bontrager XXX Bottle Cage x2 ( Just waiting delivery of one )
Garmin 200 + Out front mount
Light weight Titanium Skewers

Might treat myself to some Bontrager Aeolus 5 wheels, Garmin 810 and Ultegra Integrated brakes next year.

Some pics!

If you think the brakes are crap in the wet then wait until you slap some carbon wheels on there! if you do go carbon its absolute must that you get these new Ultegra 6810 "aero" brakes.

Also when you have your final fit on the bike chuck those stem spacers for some nice UD carbon ones.

Nice Pictures by the way! Keep your progress updated, dont worry about changing the origional post, otherwise we cant follow your thread, finally some pictures of your winter bike with your matching race bike would be superb!!!

I have a Trek Madone 3.1 (2011), shod with Dura-ace 7900 C24s.

May I ask what differences you notice with regards to your upgrade, other than the wheels? Also, what is your saddle like to ride on?

Curious about the saddle too - I'd like to take a RXXXL out for a test ride and see how it goes.

Found the ride a lot smoother due to the carbon bars, stem and post which makes it a lot more bearable.

It also feels a lot stiffer and stable when cornering and descending due to the very wide bottom bracket.

Not noticed too much difference brake wise.

The paradigm saddle is great comfort wise, had no problems with it at all. Has quite a lot of flex and the gel measurement worked perfect.

Have you matched that front tyre up and lowered the stem yet? :P

Matched front tyre up, reversed wheel so white spokes on the same side on both wheel. Stems still flying high though

Looks great - think your planned list of upgrades is spot on as well.

You'll feel much more benefit from some uber- light tubs than from an upgrade to DA...
