I already have an old S6 that I keep in Nigeria and like the ride on that, so I pulled the trigger on a S6 Evo.

D Ace 9000; Dale Hollowgram SISL cranks that I had polished with TA Squale rings; Far & Near Brakes; Deda Superleggera bars and Extralite stem; Mavic wheels with Veloflex tubs; Enve post and Spec saddle. I'm not fussed on spacers, but the size56 headtube's a bit short for me, so I got Stephen at Fibre-Lyte to knock up a spacer that's the same width as the headtube (I don't like conical spacers), and I'm pleased with the result.

Came in at 6.10 kg. No proper ride report yet as I only rode it home from my LBS with a heavy backpack.

Nice!! If you don't mind me asking, was polishing the crankset just a personal esthetic choice, or does it serve a purpose?

Either way it looks nice.

KB, I always liked your bikes. Also this one!

I think the spacer might look better if it had the same finish (polished black) as the frame.

majklnajt - You're right. I intend having the spacer painted so that it better matches the black headtube.

Ebrunner - Having the polished cranks was just for the aesthetics.

Are you not running a headset cover under the spacers?

+1 Looks like your headset cover is above the spacers

There's a small rubber 'spacer' on top of the headtube, then the carbon spacer, then a cover over that; see the last pic.

Wait, what? What is the point of the big carbon spacer? It's the width of the head tube rather than the width of the steerer. The only reason to have a spacer that big is if you explicitly wanted the headset bearing cover/dust cap to sit on top of it, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Doesn't it move around while you're riding?

Isn't that what it basically is. Just rather than being diameter of steam clamp, it is diameter of head tube? Not sure what the point is since it is still a spacer right?

yes, it's a spacer (that's clear), but it doesn't reduce in diameter. What I don't like is a 'reducing' diameter spacer at the top

The Winter has gone to Ed at my LBS. The replacement's an Enigma steel frame in Columbus Spirit that's fillet brazed, but it looks very similar to the Winter. It should be ready for when I'm next back in Blighty at the end of October. Looking forward to the build much more than the Dale.
