Goal of this build (continued from my Air 9) was to create a light, fast, comfortable, and durable... Rigid 1x10 that works in my local terrain > Super twisty and generally smooth single track.

Handling, drivetrain and braking performance are priorities over weight savings. For example, recently tried some Ashima 66g rotors and the braking performance was horrible. I weighted up with some Hope 2-piece 94g rotors and sintered pads and the control and touch are awesome.

Weight as shown 16.8 lbs. / 7,620g
Frame (L) 980g
Fork (cut) 560g, 1.125 carbon steerer, 1.5 > 1.125 aluminum crown race

SPECS BY BRAND
XTR 980: Med Cage Rear Der, 11-36 cassette, pedals, rear shifter, and chain
e13: XCX Crank 175, Pressfit BB, XCX Chain Guide, XCX 32T ring
Hope: X2 Race Levers, Line, Calipers, Rotors, shifter/brake mount
Ritchey: Superlogic 10° bar, post, headset, WCS 9cm 4 axis stem, carbon seat post shim (34.9 > 31.8)
Fizik: Gobi 00 (carbon braided rail, carbon shell) 148g
No Tubes: Race Gold Wheel set 1380b, Raven 2.2s 1050g, and 2.0 oz of sauce ineach wheel
DT Swiss: RWS MTB Ti skewers, XXM full carbon 29er fork
ESI: Race grips 40g
BTP: Carbon cages 30g

@Limba - correct, 30g for the pair. So far they hold a standard size bottle on single track... not so good with larger bottles. I also have a pair of King Ti cages I can swap in.

@devinci – yes, the bars are goofy, but the bend works for me. Just a 10° sweep, and the notch allows for a 1cm shorter stem. 9cm in my case.

Have you tried Ritchey WCS foam grips? They're lighter, cheaper, maybe not so comfy ...

Yes, tried them. Not a fan of the way they taper - plus they tear really easily...

we have two guys in the shop who race at elite level and both use foam grips, neither rip them, must be the crazy sweep of the bars that trashes the grips

It's not the bars, it's just bad luck. I've had a pair of Ritchey grips on one bike for 3-4 years with no problems, no tearing or rotating on the bars. I have another grip that tore after 2-3 rides. Shit happens. Luckily they cost nothing so it's not a big deal to replace them.

I was not being serious... the comment was ridiculous. I ride in a lot of narrow twisty stuff and tend to hit the bars. Anyway, the ESI are far better IMO.

Depending where I'm riding I swap in my suspension fork and ESI chunky's...

Oh and one of those cages bit the dust yesterday... seat tube bottle broke the lower tab and dropped right through. Marred the frame slightly as the bottle was resting on the down tube... meh, its a tool, not a jewel. Swapped in my Andrews MFG King Ti cages.

Some Updates - added heft, but a much faster setup. 18.5 lbs as pictured

Fork: DT Swiss XXM 100mm 29er. While I love the lively and flickable Rigid fork - truth is I can get through rougher terrain much quicker with my Suspension fork. Slick minimalist lockout remote works great.

Wheels: Stan's Crest. My Stan's Race Gold wheels are awesome, but can't run lower PSI without bending them up. Running 21 psi on the Crest.

Bottle Cages: King Ti with Alum bolts. Those BTP carbons failed first ride.

Blackburn Slick cages weigh 23g, cost 10 dollars and they have a lifetime warranty. You might want to buy and try one and see what you think. They're NOT high quality cages. They're plastic and flexible but I've never broken one or dropped a bottle.
