Rate this build very highly. Have you found your head set coming loose as its only the stem maintaining the load on the bearings?

How do you find the chain rings with di2?

dartanianX, hasnt loosened that often that it becomes inconvenient to tighten again and again. once in a while yes specially after a rough ride but just very slight. no issues too with di2 and the octaramp rings.

This is a very nice build man. The folks over at Glory Cycles are trying to sell me on this one and I have to admit that my interest is piqued after reading what others have to say and after seeing what you were able to do with the frame. How's it ride on the stiffness, handling, and comfort fronts?

I personally use cheap nail polish remover (higher levels of acetone) and a rag to rub the logos off. Works on alloy stems such as 3T - PRO - other alloy stems.

@mdusink- replied to same query in page 1, paint remover. but as dartanianx said, can also use acetone.

rolling around in clinchers these holidays. kinlin xr200, unbadged bitex, dt competition, 1304g.
havent got to mount the ax as planning to update some parts (cables, tapes and regrease) and still havent had the time to do.




weight 1304g. missed my target by 4g. at least its stiffer then the previous xr200 i had with dt revolutions.

Hi. I am considering the Alize or the Bura SL. Multiple reviews state that the Bura is stiff in the front end. May not be the best all around bike to train or ride dirt roads, etc. on.

Can anyone comment on that please?..

based on my previous builds, obvious that i prefer a light non-aero frame as a platform, more based on looks, weight, features and personal preference.
im not someone who is able to notice the stiffness of a frame over the other, as long as the saddle and bar im holding is setup the same, for me it feels the same. im a 180-200km/wk guy only.

on choosing bura or alize for a build, for me its a matter of aesthetics, purpose and taste. aero platform= alize. weight-conscious platform- bura.

stripped the bike last night. cleaned some old parts and will install some new ones.


back to a single faceplate stem. hassles of travelling when using dual-faceplate stems.

havent compared with standard steel housings, but niro-glide lighter than my previous compressionless alu links-type housing.

Great build and great documentation on the project! I'm loving that recon cassette! Any sign of the black nickel coating coming off? How does it wear btw?

coating coming of better than expected, just at the tip of the teeth. not bad wear rate, definitely better than the recon models in 2009-2010 which wear off easily.
the shine on the pic at the last 3 cogs is reflection.
