Quite excited about the transition to 2x10, and here is a good way to show the potential :

Full Ti 11-28 cassette:

Prior and old 11-36 cassette:

Doing some calculations I will be saving about 163g from my current 1x10 setup considering the changes!

So I had an accidental discovery here. Since I'm going 2x10, I needed a front shifter...but after I looked at the price for a XX Gripshifter on eBay (to match the other side) and I was quite discouraged. So I had this damaged Scott Twinloc without use and considered trying as shifter! But I had to fix the engagement teeth first! So I've 3d printed in stainless.....and it worked!

....and you are looking at probably the lightest trigger front shifter to date! Haha

Image
....and I know it really works! Its already installed on my bike fully working...more pictures soon!

And here is the shifter with cable. interesting fact is that I can completely remove the whole shifter and cable just by unscrewing the lever from handlebar and on the bottom of the frame... no need to detach cables.
Image

...and here is why I can do that... pulley pull.

Nice job, some people don't like that front derailleur shifting, talking about the sram red fd.

But you should have no problem.

It will be my first trying it. I've noticed a 'not perfect' shift but I'm using very old chainrings, I'm waiting for new ones in the mail and I'll have more conclusions later.

What people find as a problem?

Flexy FD (some versions more than others), doing a search you'll find plenty of info on that.

But you already showed you know what you're doing, so I really think you can put it to work like a charm.

Come back with details when you have that working, and pics btw :D

Xpedo Road force XRF06TT (R force)

Just got this from ebay at amazing deal! (good deal because was pretty bit up...old grease, stiff rotation, missing cap). Having fun tuning it up with:

- lighter bearings (in case you want to know...they are Metric 6(id)x13(OD)x5(width);
- Ti Nuts (they are M6 0.75 pitch - or 1/4-28 UNF equivalent);
-Alloy or Ti torx adjusting bolts (M4);
-Special Dura Ace green grease.

....It will be light...probably around 150g/pair.

I'll give it shot as a MTB pedal.

How will you attach that Judy boot to the Lefty?

I know....I've started on the hard way with a rope across from inside trying to pull the hole rubber far out to clear the caliper clamps and the 90 degree corner....but its just impossible this way....way to much pull and nobody is that strong to do that....this method works with the stock Lefty boot but its much wider than the Judy.

So my next attempt was lubing it up from inside, taping all the sharp corners and sliding it with my hand...also with the help of a towel to add some traction and grip...then it finally worked!

Fitting is actually perfect! Much better than the stock, no need for zip ties and is snug fit on top and bottom.
That breathing hole...I already solved the problem...I know It can't be open like that :wink:

Not dead yet. I was just thinking about all the upgrades this bike had since I bought it back in 2011.
So I decided to post in this original thread for perspective:

26er>27.5er
2x10>1x13(shopping for the cassette right now…it will be Ekar ;-)
100mm front fork>150mm
Mechanical shifting> reliable wireless shifting with XShifter
Longer bar
1 bottle cage> 2

Before 23.19lbs
Image

After 19.42lbs

Have you seen the 13 speed Ztto cassette? I've been seriously considering it, but was not sure RD-M9000 could handle the range, so went for a 12sp 9-46.

Just found it: https://bit.ly/3zIoe7Q

But I'm interested on the short steps at high speed and a 9t cog so the cassette is not so big and heavy. e13 is missing the change to give justice to it's brand name!
