Use to have Tarmac SL2 as second bike, few weeks ago I've found cracks all over the down tube, warranty claim and here is my new 2014 Tarmac SL4

Looks fast. You bring over your old components from the SL2 or start fresh?

A pal of mine used to be on the inside of Speci and told me their SL2 had plenty of issues with their down tube / seat post clamp area. Regardless if this was the same issue or not, I sure hope they took good care of you.

All of the parts I took from my Cannondale SuperSix, the mechanical 7900 Dura Ace that came off the Tarmac sold with the SuperSix frame and now i have the new Tarmac SL4 with Dura Ace DI2.

The only part that I find unattractive is the set of wheels, they are not very reliable and their appearance does not do it to me.

Things I will never fault someone for using:
1. External cables
2. Mechanical drivetrain
3. Clinchers
4. Wire-pull rim brakes

Sometimes ease of use is the key to enjoying a bike to the fullest.

@jbaillie:

i think the objection about the external DI2 wires is that the SL4 is built for internal cables. nice build, but maybe some stealthier wheels, and would look a bit less janky with internal Di2 wires.

The reason why I ran the wire external is simple, the 7970 plugs are too big for the frame holes.

The wheels are OK, I prefer having something more black..Easton hide the stickers under the shellac. The weight…bit heavy, 7.2 with Dura Ace c24 wheels. Don’t know about the weight with Easton wheels
