Not posted much but been reading for a while, here's my first attempt at a lightish bike on a budget.

Sorry for the bad photo, better pics to come.

No idea of weight, any guesses would be good.

This was a rebuild from a Planet X SL Pro carbon that I had so a few components are left over from that and will be upgraded when funds allow.

Black and white always looks good.

No cages or computer? Time to go shopping.

Will the cages be BTP, Emporelli or something else?!

Does your Madone have the built-in magnet on the chainstay? Get an Edge 500 or new 800?

I've got an edge 500, I'll put that back on tomorrow.

Also got a carbon cage to put on. That comes in at 21g.

What's best for cleaning grip tape?

nice classic black and white build, personally i would go with black saddle and bartape for a more stealth look 8)

I'm looking for a replacement light front derailleur clamp, is there anywhere else to get one other than BTP as they've very expensive?

My first nice road bike was an '08 5.2. Bought it in January of '09 brand new for $2,400. Ripping it apart with the intention of a rebuild that never happened, and then selling the frame set later... Have been two of my biggest regrets. As a poor student, I can't hope for a nicer frame for some time!

This one looks very spiffy. Congratulations on the acquisition, this is a beautifully riding bike.

Some new parts on the way

SRAM Red 39/53 crankset
Syntace F99 Stem with Ti hardware
KMC X10SL Chain

I'm looking to get a new bar too as the stem is 26mm and my current bar/stem setup is 31.8mm

I like the measurements of my currently bar at 130mm drop 80mm reach but I think I want to go slightly narrower at 40cm.

Any recommendations?

I'll also need some new bar tape, in black this time. I no nothing about what's out there, how do you choose? Again any recommendations?

I'd like to start going a bit more all black stealth look on my build but not sure if the white decals on the frame will be removable.

For the bar tape, check out the black Deda Carbon tape. It looks like a carbon-fiber weave and is "blacker" than typical cork tape because of the material difference. It has a slightly lower profile too, so it doesn't look so clumsy on bars. I just got some for the first time and I really like the stuff!
