Hi guys, my name is Marcin, I just joined WW. I've been looking at your posts for a while without actually contributing. I've been building a 1996 GT Xizang for a while. After purchasing the frame seperatly I slowly began to build it. The intial build was a street set-up with parts sourced from another bike and parts bought from various sources. The frame itself was owned by a sponsored GT rider and Sydney 2000 Olympian and silver medalist. It came at a lower weight than most GT Xizang frames of that year or any year for that matter. That is an 18 inch frame weights 1436 grams. I hope to give you regular updates on the build process first to get you up to date with the current bike status and then to regularly update you on the ongoing project.
Thanks,
Marcin

This is the initial build of the bike June 2011. I built it from scratch with the parts off a spare bike and some after market stuff. <br />The weight was 9479g.

Thanks for the welcome! I wonder how this classic frame will go with some light yet practical components. :)

Nice but we need to see some better and updated pictures. That bike would be super nice with some period Mavic CrossMax but they would be hard to find. Amazing wheelset to ride too.
