I was out with one of these today (I think!)
Black/orange.
Loved the rear brake placement.

Its technique; not a break in period
Unlearn how you've previously clipped in, ie toes first and push heels.
With speedplay just push straight down

You have to literally stomp into them, but they do loosen up with use. Once clipped in they are really secure

The actual spring, kinda like a circlip, does indeed break-in. I always reuse my old one several times when changing to new cleats. But also technique is a little different. A slight heel-out twist as you press down helps too.
cheers for the tips guys, hoping to use this weekend, ive been sat on the bike clipping in and out and can feel it getting easier, the slight twist with the heel helps entry.
hopefully put 80miles on them on sunday, next week I should have my crankset.

Asking for a little advice here, im considering some Mavic R-sys SLRs as a second set of wheels for climbing....

Or do I sell the Cosmic SLEs and get a single "multi-performance" wheelset and get the Carbon Bontrager Aeolus 3 D3 35mm Clinchers???...
