After riding the Addict for the fifth year now I was looking for something to go with. So was browsing the net and found the Foil Team issue at Westbrook cycles , the shop that also sold me the Addict. After a short discussion with the wife : :smartass: Why ... / Yes :D I ordered the frame.

So after a little bit of shopping - I started the build.

De build list.

Frame : Scott Foil Team Issue
Fork : Scott Foil
Groupset : Dura Ace 7900 with Ultegra Di2
Wheels : Dura Ace C35 & Dura Ace C50
Saddle : Selle Italia Teknologica Flow
Handlebar : FSA Wing pro , no logo's
Stem : Ritchey 260º Wet black 110mm

Weight will be around 6,9kg ( had it on the scale without saddle and that weighs 115 gram.)

And the build continues, still waiting for some parts to arrive ( saddel rails and grommets ):

Curiosity-----what benefits to this build over the Addict? In other words ----what were you looking for that was different and more in tune with your requirements?

are you keeping your Addict? someone nearby has a Foil frame in the same colors - it looks really stunning in person, especially with the green highlights.

congratulations on your new ride!

This build doesn't have any benefits.... The Foil is just one of the best looking bikes I saw the last few years. And the fact is just that I ride two bikes. The Scott Addict for training / work and the rainy days, and the Foil for the beautiful rides - climbing - or club rides. This year I rode a Batavus Vacansoleil team bike for training and to ride to work with. BATAVUS. Now my son is growing bigger , and he loves his Batavus - so he will be riding my old 52cm Batavus after summer or next spring, and the 49cm Batavus frame will be sold.

Yesterday the last parts came in so photo's will be placed later this day ....

Congrats - Foil and Ui2! Once you're on the road, tell us how the Addict and Foil compare / contrast.

[All I ask is that you don't rub it in the Addict owners' faces if the Foil is that much better, please...]

Always nice to see another Foil. Digging the team colors too.

Don't worry about the Addict owners. They're just jealous that their bikes are so much softer! ;)

how are you finding the ride quality of the scott foil? i'm looking to get one myself but would love the opinion of someone who has spent a bit of time with one.

I hope I can tell you tonight how it rides... I was waiting for the last parts - and a verry good torque wrench. Now it's ready.... or.... maybe.... It's 6,9Kg incl. garmin - bottle cages - pedals.

UPDATE: The ride quality is great as far as I can tell from first impression. It feels stiff - more than the Addict and maybe it's because of the weight ( + 400grms than the Addict ) but is not as " jumpy " as the Addict.

Did some climbing this summer in France and the bike is great:

* Stiffer than the Addict , did some descending at +75km/h
* Bit heavier than the Addict
* More comfortable than the Addict

But still my son was faster than me : -30 years & minus 20kg

Looks like dad will need to do some "secret training" - anything before 8am normally works.

Nice bikes.
