Thanks. He' just a great kid all around.

And he's half-Aussie.

Just got this as a replacement for the Kinesis which is about to be outgrown. I'll start a new thread soon. Paint first.

Apparently my 11-year-old creates more power than this derailleur could handle. Either that or he downshifted from the big ring to the little one at a really bad time.

Yes. Unfortunately it won't be ready in time for the National Championship in 3 weeks. I'm scrambling to get a new derailleur hanger in time for this weekend's race. Couldn't find a Kinesis hanger in the U.S. so ordered from Europe. Fingers crossed and hoping for a fast shipment.

Bah! I thought I was saved. I had spare derailleur cages and jockey wheels in my parts box. Reassembled the derailleur and all looked fine. New hanger arrived today. Upon installation I discovered the actual derailleur body is bent and twisted. Total loss. This is going to hurt the wallet.

Since the new bike won't be ready in time we made a few adjustments and updates to the Kinesis. Most notable is that we finally got a REAL crank in a child appropriate size. RIDEA makes road cranks as small as 150mm. They have interchangeable spiders so the arms can be used for road, mtn bikes, cross, and even BMX. My son likes the ovalized rings and had no issues adjusting to them. Shifting is perfect with the di2. I installed a chain catcher anyway... just a bit of added insurance. The cranks are very similar to Rotor. Cranks and spider weighed 535g and rings were 160g. Not bad.

Once the new frame is ready, most of these parts will transfer over.

This must be one of the nicest kid's bikes.

Do you have a link for the Ridea cranks? They look interesting!
