Where to start.... I was expecting different comments. Selling a Colnago for a Trek.
To be honest, I needed the money. And to be even more honest, I liked those Madone frames from the moment I saw them!
I think if I make a difference of 600-650 € (frame only) in my +, it cant be really bad. But thats just my opinion.

Size 58 only! ;)

I imagine with those parts/components:
(black bartape of course; Reynolds DV 46 T wheels - if I sell my Xentis wheelset)
I already got:

And his is the rest that I need:

Going from Colnago/Campagnolo to Trek/Shimano (and retro ones at that) is a brave move but I dig your taste - the classic Madones are, well, "classic"; and Dura Ace 7800 I think is their best version. You obviously do things by you're own eyes, not by "trends". I think the gunmetal colour scheme is awesome BTW.

.... And to answer your question, my rims are 60mm deep. Thinking of going to a classic bend on my Madone as well - got 3T Rotundo's on my Baum and once I fiddled with the angles etc I now love them. Deda's are a fraction shallower.

Yes, it's a classic.

Are you sure you don't need Hutchinson tyres instead?

The thing I don't like about the way that frame is made is the way Trek have oversized the top and downtube but have then mated them right in the middle of the head tube. Sometimes Trek seem to have their own ideas going for no good reason.

Paddy, yes, if I like something, I go for it.
Thanks! Ths means that my 58 mm wheelset should also go with that frame. Although, I would really like a bit shallower wheelset.
Funny, on my ex C50, I always thought that the wheels arent too deep :D
I wonder how would your Madone look with black bartape and sadlle...
I like Deda shallow more 3T than Rotundo. And Rotundo has no cable grooves.

Thanks Errol, but I will very likely need a 110 mm stem. And the Shallow bar. That one is Deep.

dog, I think I`ll try it with Veloflex ;)

maverick, I am trying.... ;)

nathan, I still think that DA 7800 crankset is the best looking crank EVER. :D

On thing that got me concerned a bit is the seat tube angle!
The seat tube doesnt "point" directly into the bottom bracket, but is rather forward.
What I really need to know is:
Do they measure the angle regarding the center of the BB and the center on the top of the seat tube? (yellow line)
Or do they measure the actual angle of the seat tube? (blue line)

Don`t you think, that it will be a problem to find this frame in mint condition?

really looking forward to this build.

dura ace 7800 is still my favourite for being the smoothest, slickest changing mechanical system i ever used. i had it previously on a focus izalco extreme.
i guess fewer cable bends was the reason.

and as is common knowledge now, the trek early carbon frame construction was as good as anyone was doing at the time, with great quality UD carbon and no voids or filling that you find on some other makes of the same period when you remove the paint.

You should try the new mechanical 9000 shifters, Shimano redeemed the 7900 slow mechanism with smooth and vived feel just like the good old 7800

I like big frames. Its that classic fit ;)
I think I`ve found it!
I used 7800 groupset on my Dream HP and liked everything about it!!

I am also thinking about this handlebar and Deda Newton 26 stem. Would have to polish it obviously.

Edit: No, Zero looks perfectly suited for this frame color! ;)

I am not sure about the cockpit. I would probably suggest Bontrager stem and bars unless you want it "period correct" so you have to search a lot for the right components.

I really like the finish on this Deda zero stem and newton bars. Judging the pics, of course.
"Period correct" would mean Deda 215 shallow bar and Deda Newton 26 stem. LA started to use Bontrager cockpit in 2005.
