Any suggestions on a sub-$1k (USD) wheelset? I'm staying with clinchers. Should I just hold off until I can afford something high-end?

Alchemy hubs
Velocity A23 (or similar) rims
Spokes of your builder's choice, depending on your weight

Then put some tubeless tires on there and enjoy the ride.

I think the H Plus Son Archteype rim in the hard anodized flavour would match that bike nicely

How did I miss this?

Fantastic.

Classic frame, would suggest a classic wheelset - as others have said, something like Ambrosio rims and your favorite brand of higher end hubs.

Love it.

I agree Alchemy hubs are nice, but some cheaper hubs would be fine as well, e.g. bikehubstore or Novatec.

Here is a nice example of how Archetype rims look (from member SkyeC):

A few upgrades as we approach racing season once more.

With SRAM Red moving to the new generation, and the old Red Black chainring trickling down to Force, I figured it was a nice, inexpensive upgrade (though I'm hanging onto the Force chainring in case I'm not a fan early on).

And finally things fell into place and I was able to get a proper set of wheels. I initially was going to go with H Plus Son archetype, but was able to get a good deal on some HED Belgiums. Hubs are White Industries T11. I'm thrilled with the results.

That looks stellar! The black, white and grey all works really nice together. Great job on the new wheels too, what do you think of the T11 hubs?

Thanks Quinn. So far so good with the hubs but I really haven't put enough mileage on them to give a comprehensive report.

Roger, you're a fellow Summit Ave climber? I'll keep my eyes peeled. What do you ride?

Apologies for crank & wheel position. I just hopped off quickly to grab this shot on a ride.
