I've just bought this Sword bike frame by Tim Leicester formally of Mercian cycles and it's made from Reynolds oversized 853 tubing and is fillet brazed.
Plans to start with are just to build it up as it is and use it over the winter and will try the new 105 r7000 groupset which seems ideal for this build unless I can find a good deal on Ultegra r8000.
In the spring if it works out to be a nice ride I will get it resprayed and may even change the design of the logo as im not that keen on it but it might look better with a change of colour. Its a big frame so will choose something that doesn't emphasize this to much.
Any ideas will be apreciated :-)

just moved this to "Anyone still have a steel bike topic" :-)
first ride out this morning and it rode really well and handled really sweet on the wet bends.

just need to get round to cutting the excess steering tube off and buy a new saddle so the DiamondBack saddle can go back to where it came from.

can't quite believe how it handles so well in the wet conditions.

So... how much does it weigh?

Does this use mid-reach brakes? What's the max tire?

Lovely bike!

Lovely bike!
I fitted standard 5700 brakes where the pads are on the maximum adjustment and works really well.
I read somewhere a good few years back that these brakes suited this setup more than Dura ace or ultegra, never really checked to much into it.

It's not to bad but the wheels are well built with excellight rim laced onto white industries T11 hubs so don't really notice the extra weight of the frame and steel forks.
If you check the Sword cycles Instagram feed you can see the bike frame being made a while back.

Really nice. I love a nice steel fork.
