I recently bought a Focus Mares CX Disc Ultegra 2016. I thought I'd show it here, along with some modifications I'll be doing. Previously I rode a green Kona Major Jake from 2008, which I actually miss a bit. One thing I don't miss though is the poor braking, and glueing tubular tires :)

With new wheels/tires, and some of the red accents blacked out:
Image

Weight (with Notubes Valor wheels, Shimano PD-m540 pedals and Garmin mount): 8.23 kg

Currently the bike looks like this (25/11-15: new photo on the way...):
Image

Weight (with DT Swiss R24 wheels, Shimano PD-m540 pedals and Garmin mount): 8.68 kg

Upgraded:
- Wheels: Stan's Notubes ZTR Valor Team 2016.
- Saddle: Specialized Power S-Works, 143 mm.
- Stem: 3T Arx Team, 90 mm.
- Pedals: Shimano PD-m540.
- Tires: Serax CX Mud (front)/Serac CX (rear).

Planned upgrades:
- Lighter disc rotors.
- Clutch rear derailleur.
- Narrow-wide single chain ring.

Nice bike, but you may want to try resizing that photo. I had to really zoom out to see it.

No problem. The bike looks nice, now go out there and get it dirty!

Oh, it's been dirty a couple of times (we haven't had really bad weather yet - it'll come eventually). I've done five races on the bike already (got it in the beginning of October), with three podium finishes.

I don't like the many red and white bits on the bike, except around the head tube and on the forks. I'm currently working on masking the red and white on the top tube, seat tube, seat stays and chain stays with some black vinyl. It takes a lot of time (and trial and error) to trace, cut and apply it. But it'll look great in the end (I hope).

Fantastic looking bike! Enjoy the ride.

I had a 2015 CX 3.0 (canti version) and was blown away by the stiffness - solid Racer. A disc version with RAT is on my short list for when I get healthy.

I received a pair of Notubes ZTR Valor Team 2016 wheels today. I only have a very short ride on the bike with the new wheels - it felt very quick compared to the heavy DT Swiss R24 wheels.

The Valors weighed 1440 g including rim tape and Stan's tubeless valves:

I am also about to try some iRC Serac Tubeless tires (both the CX and Mud versions). They were super easy to mount with a crappy old floor pump. I hope they perform :)

Updated (new wheels, and blacked out some of the red accents) :)

The pedals weigh around 350 grams, so not exactly lights. The handlebars are also heavy, but I like the shape (might get lighter Fizik ones at some point). I have a 40T narrow/wide chainring and a 10-speed Zee RD (with a clutch), but haven't figured out how to set it up correctly yet to work with the 11-speed road shifters. Those changes would drop a fair amount of weight though (including the chainguide, which should be ~50 grams...

How do you like the slack headtube angle?

I really like it compared to my previous bike (Kona Major Jake 2008), which had quite a steep head tube angle (72.5-73.0 deg. as far as I recall, which might not be too atypical actually). The Focus feels better on singletrack, and it's great for CX racing too.

The biggest change was the wheels. They're absolutely awesome. Tubeless for CX is great 8)

What Hubs are in those wheels, is it the standard 3.30 stans hub? How do you like them? Is the 30POE enough, or would you like more?

Thanks!

No, they have the Neo hubs (Team wheel set). It has 36 POE, which is fine for me.
