Thanks Zak. It has been fun getting to know this frameset on the road. Hopefully many many km are in front of us.
Pemium Rush, the bar tape is Lizard Skins DSP 1.8 in grey, the cages are the Elite Custom Race (plastic) model in the USA scheme.

I finally managed to find the ITM Dual CX quill handlebars I was looking for. Together with a rather unusual sized 27.0mm Suntour Superb seatpost and Selle Super Pro saddle I had lying around, the Pearson bike is coming together nicely.
A Campagnolo Centaur carbon groupset is coming in next week, so the end is near. All that remains then is to figure out how I going to make the groupset work with a screw on freehwheel.

Not sure if this is really the forum for this kind of bicycle, it being pretty retro/ugly/odd and all. I will keep you guys updated when there is progress.

technically, aren't those magnesium not aluminium, or are they an alloy of both?
