I am putting together a mixed SRAM group on my next build and already have a Red Crankset and Force Brakes. I need a 28.6 clamp on FD which Dura Ace has. I've also read that Dura Ace/Ultegra FDs work well with a SRAM drivetrain.

That being said, which is more compatible, the 7800 FD or 7900 FD? I believe Shimano changed the pull ratio for the 7900 group, but I cannot find which one works better with SRAM.

Proposed Frankengroup:

SRAM Red 2011 Shifters
SRAM Red 2011 Crankset
SRAM Force 2010 Brakes
Shimano Dura Ace 7800 or 7900 FD
SRAM Rival or Force RD (cost savings measure)

Thanks for any input.

I have been a 7800 FD with Sram for a couple years with absolutely no issues. In fact, it is better than the all Sram setup I have on another bike.

I don't know about the 7900 FD, but the 7800 worked perfectly with my force group.
