Finally received the 38 mm carbon clinchers from Farsports. They look - and feel - great.

Swapping the Recon cassette for a Dura Ace 12-25, and the Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX instead of Conti Supersonics the final weight is: 6.535 grams.

Very happy with the visuals on this one - looks much better than with the Extralite Hyperclinch.

Are these the wheels you will use in the mountains? I think we are about the same size and I will go to Harz in May. I'm thinkg of it's too optimistic to use the Assaults in that terrain and mount my aluminium wheels instead? Let me know about your experience.

Hi Anders

Yes... they are going to Mallorca with me in 14 days. After the reviews I have read here on WW, they should do fine in that kind of terrain. I will let you know how they are doing up/down Sa Calobra... :)

Ah.. The great mountains of Denmark ;) I'm going to sand my Quarq S975 myself, did you use any clearcoat on your cranks or did you just leave it unprotected? Any wear issues as it is?

Tallest point in Denmark... 174 meters :D

No clearcoat. I have applied some 303 Aerospace - that is UV protection to protect the carbon from the sunlight. There are lots of other solutions out there - ask Prendrefeu :)

Haven't experienced any rubbing issues. If so, it is easy to give the crank arms a fresh sanding, and then apply another layer of 303 Aerospace.

174 meters is a false flat here in Norway!

Thanx for the reply regarding the clearcoat. Will look into the 303 aerospace :)

Latest update...

Goodbye Enve... hello Zipp 404 Firecrest (with all black outline decals).

Furthermore I got rid of the Ciamillo brakes (poor braking, and almost impossible to set up) and bought a set of DA 7900 (heavier, but super reliable)

With the GP4000S, cheap (and heavy) tubes with 80 mm valve and DA7900 brakes it is exactly 6.800 grams.
