Three years ago I posted pics of my then new Parlee Z2.

It was time for change. Driven by the fact I really, really, really wanted Campag' EPS, I had to change the frame.

After a few months of faffing, I settled on another Parlee. So here it is - a Z5sli, in pretty much the same finish as my Z2.

I'll admit I was nervous about changing from a bespoke Z2 to an off the shelf Z5, but I didn't need to worry. What Parlee have done with the Z5 is pretty special - I am really impressed with the handling and ride quality. Sharp but certain handling, coupled up with great feel and road surface damping. You know what's under the wheels, but if it's rough it doesn't shake your teeth out. It is a superb frameset.

Some details:

* Parlee Z5sli medium, tall headtube

* Campagnolo Record EPS

* Rotor 3D+ SRM crankset

* OSymetric rings (yeah, I know they don't look great, but I know they work for me)

* Smart Enve 3.4 tubs, currently with a 12-29 block, but usually with a 11-25 (I'm off to do the Haute Route, seven days on 38x25 would destroy my knees!)

* 3T LTD cockpit and seat post - from my original Z2 build

* Selle Italia Kit Carbonia SLR saddle

* Arundel Mandible cages

* Bar Fly Garmin mount

In that configuration it weighs 6.5kg. Happy with that

They are both super nice bikes.

I totally love my z5, got around 6000kms on mine. It out handles anything I've ridden and just about any thing I've ever encountered out on the roads. I'm a poor climber but I do have one hell of a 5.3kg descending bike

I don't like the bottle cages or the chain rings.. But It a sorted looking bike and I'd ride it any day

Internal cable routing I think..

I couldn't run an electro gruppo with an external wiring lume.. It's just not right so I totally understand

And battery mount. The EPS brain is mahoosive, and using the bottle cage mount wouldn't work on a Z2 (bolt length).

sugarkane - yeah, get your sentiments about the Os, I'm neither here nor there on the looks (I certainly don't find them attractive things!) But, as I say, physiologically speaking they really work for me. And I do like going uphill - which is where they pay extra dividends.
